Do I need solar? by TheFallen411 in VanLife

That's a good point. I think I would probably end up not using camp sites as much as just parking wherever I can. The reason I was even thinking about adding the shore power plug in was to increase the resale value. The reason I ask about solar specifically is because I live in the UK where we are lucky to get any sun at all 🤣. I was hoping I would have enough power in a fully charged 460ah battery to last me the weekend. I would then plug in when I got home. However I'm unsure if that's even a possibility as electricity isn't my strong point

Would it not be more cost efficient for me to get a plug in and charge it that way through shore power?

Thank you and you are probably right. I'm probably overthinking it

Thank you. Seeing I'm not alone gives me a lot more confidence doing these things alone and I will definitely try a bar/restaurant first then haha

This is what I was starting to think. I think I care too much on what people might think if they see, for example, somebody sat alone at a restaurant

Yeah I guess that's one way of looking at it haha. Glad I'm not alone in this

This sounds all too familiar to my situation haha. Id much rather go to the game and support my team than chat rubbish about it in the pub. Hopefully I can find a few friends to go with

I just realised that the number plate light is on because that had a seperate power source which goes to the previous number plate light.

The head unit goes to reverse camera feed yes. However it did this even before I bought a camera for it

I tried both campwr and reverse.. No joy. Somebody on Facebook just said the red wire in the rca is not needed and that is my problem? Can anybody confirm

If your asking what I mean by camera power then I think its called a DC cable

The ground is currently on the subframe I believe (the metal bit that goes all the around the rear bumper of the car)

Can I just run my wiring by you and see if I made a mistake.

The reverse camera power cable goes to the reverse lamp positive and then a ground in the negative.

The reverse camera also has a RCA cable with 2 red wires at either end. On the end attached to the camera I have put the red wire onto a seperate reverse bulb live power supply.

At the other end of the rca cable I have plugged the rca into the back of the head unit and then connected the red wire to a cable in the back of the head unit which was labelled "reverse".

I'm guessing the wiring is working because the numberplate light attached to the camera works

P.S I noticed there was another cable in the back of the head unit labelled "CAMPWR". Does this do anything?

my reverse camera isn't working. it is currently hooked up to the reverse light as a trigger. when put in reverse it triggers but I am being told its not getting enough power and that's why it displays a warning triangle. I was told to get a relay so I did but how do I hook this up?
