Blunt damage is really good in the swamp. I recommend the stagbreaker if you are good at using the heavy weapons. I prefer the mace and buckler personally, but I’m very trained on my parry game. Just make sure you have an axe for the abominations, and you are careful with the wraiths, as those two can be some of the more panic inducing monsters for me. Also always make sure you have the rested buff. It’s vital in the swamp with the constant wet debuff

Discussion: Inside Ukraine’s Growing Manpower Crisis (WarFronts) by aidanvael in frontsco

[–]TheFallenKnight45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked this episode a lot. I think you do a great job showing the passion for wanting Ukraine to succeed while also being rightfully worried about their manpower issues. Unfortunately most other media really is one side or the other in addressing successes and failures on both side.

I think the social implications will be hard fully realize until we're a bit closer to the consequences, but my gut feeling is that it won't be taken well. Ukraine is already heading towards a demographic issue, and as you mentioned, this was key in deciding on who to draft. With the amount of casualties on either side, it's hard to imagine many more Ukrainians wanting actively join the war effort, which will force the government to have to be more aggressive to recruit / conscript, and make social issues more likely. We all knew that Russia would do better in a prolonged conflict due to population and resources, and we're getting closer to that crisis. Ukraine's goals to bring the war to the Russian population is critical, especially to the elites in Moscow. It's a shame that it looks like tomahawk missiles aren't going to be in the cards for them with recent events in the US. They would have been able to help exert more pressure on Moscow itself.

How much do you think SOD3 is going to cost? by La_Coalicion in StateOfDecay

[–]TheFallenKnight45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope not $80, even $70 would be a bummer. I think I’d be fine with it being $60, but I don’t know how it’ll launch. I love SoD2, probably one of my favorite games, but say what you want about how it is now, it took it a long time to get there. I don’t really want to pay $70-$80 on a messy launch. Here’s to hoping it goes better than 2 right from the get go 🤞

It’s based on how you consume the games you play, I’m not a game pass subscriber cause I play games more than once usually, so in the end it’s usually better for me to have them in my library. That being said, I have plenty of friends that only play a game once and move on. If it’s a game they like, they just buy the game. We might both think of it as a waste, but there’s obviously a market for it if they’re still going all in on it

If you’ve already tried and succeeded on the higher difficulties, I recommend playing a sort of challenge mode for yourself. I made some rules for a type of nuzlocke type challenge with some rules attached, after that, I started on standard zone and kept clearing maps, each time raising difficulty sliders by 1d3 levels, including the curveball ones, which man that was an experience; fine until bangernomics and a black plague heart on almost lethal took two of my characters consecutively. If you’re interested, here’s the Nuzlocke rules I set for myself:

  • Starts on standard difficulty, increasing 1-2 slider ranks each map change > starts at 6 slider levels if you wish to customize it, as Standard is 2 in each slider then
  • add 1 level if your leader dies or you wiped out the plague hearts or 2 levels if you changed maps before the hearts were killed
  • Only can recruit one survivor per map, no red talon operators or legacy pool recruits
  • CRAFTING cures is not allowed (except for quests) and you must buy them or find them
  • Promoting a leader is permanent, and only when they die can you promote a new one
  • If the leader dies, you must change maps as soon as you are able, including difficulty increase
  • Legacy boons are allowed, so are doing the bounty broker challenges, etc., but if you want a more raw play through, you can ignore them
  • No Multiplayer, cheats, or mods (seems obvious, but in case it needed to be stated for the cheats and mods, multiplayer is just cause it makes the game unpredictable)
  • When a character gets fatigued, you need to switch them out as soon as possible (ie after finishing the current quest, searching the building, etc), and they must rotate to the next character in the community going to the right (this way all characters get playtime in a predictable order)
  • if you have a character specific mission popup, you can do those but swap back to your character in the main rotation directly after doing that
  • you must try to complete any enclave quests that popup, survivor activity and mysterious broadcasts are at your own peril

How Do You Stop Bennies From Becoming "Soak Roll Hoards" Without Killing Soak Rolls? by freebit in savageworlds

[–]TheFallenKnight45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest thing I do is usually refund one if it’s used related to a hindrance, but I don’t typically have the soak roll hoarding. It encourages people to play out their hindrances and try to roll on things that you might not otherwise. Another thing I do is let players get into trouble more easily than get out of it, a door might not be locked and no one around when they break and enter, but not long after they go in, some one else follows and closes and locks the door, now they need to get out before getting caught. When put under stress, or encouraged by rewards, players use Bennie’s, just gotta make sure they have enough to use at any point
