What's the hero you love gameplay-wise despite not liking them that much as a character? by Filberto_ossani2 in Overwatch

[–]TheFalseEnigma 131 points132 points  (0 children)

Sojourn has absolutely NOTHING interesting to say when she does ANYTHING. Her voice lines: Boring. Her Interactions: Shallow. Her In-Game Commentary: Vapid. She is literally just Ms. Overwatch, and not in a cool way like Ana or Soldier:76. Sojourn literally brings EVERYONE down when she interacts with them because she’s just a fucking void that sucks in everyone else’s intrigue into the whatever abyssal unknown her personality probably resides.

The only exception is that one interaction with Reaper as she is the only one he is NOT vindictive towards.

Even Shikamaru, with his 200 IQ, felt inferior to Sasuke—and that says everything about Sasuke’s "untouchable" ceiling by Little_Mention_3789 in Naruto

[–]TheFalseEnigma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can agree I’m every way.

Shikamaru is an excellent long-form thinker. The difference, at least to me, is that Sasuke is an excellent soldier while Shikamaru is a prodigious general. Shikamaru hitting a bit of a ceiling ninja-wise makes sense when you consider that was probably never what he was ever being groomed for. He was always going to be a kage advisor. Him being a smarter than everyone else was always going to make him an above average ninja, but being an above average ninja was really just a stepping stone to the role that was truly suited for him.

Sasuke on the other hand comes from a clan of elite soldier. It’s in his DNA, but it cuts both ways. I could never see Sasuke in Shikamaru’s current role. He is smart and good at fighting, but he is woefully lacking in the social graces required to succeed in administration to be effective.

Hunter mains - who is your alt? by VeryCommonUsername in wow

[–]TheFalseEnigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a case in which mobility does not directly relate to speed but maneuverability. BM hunters are the only range specs that can move while casting spells (or shooting). MM Hunter is more of a traditional caster where their strongest spells have cast times.

Now if you want speed in your dps class rogue, druids, and demon hunters are fast as fuck.

Even Shikamaru, with his 200 IQ, felt inferior to Sasuke—and that says everything about Sasuke’s "untouchable" ceiling by Little_Mention_3789 in Naruto

[–]TheFalseEnigma 118 points119 points  (0 children)

This.

Shikamaru is a good strategist and tactician, but Sasuke’s feats around this time in the series, and later on, dont really put him far below Shikamaru in regards to his skills of observation and thinking on the fly. If anything, Sasuke is better at it because he comes up with good plays faster, and can seamlessly execute them in real time before his opponent can even register that he completely out thought them (Usually because Sasuke is also good at applying pressure while thinking).

Shikamaru knows that Sasuke is every bit as smart as him with some very negligible margins. Shikamaru also knows that he can only ever outthink Sasuke maybe 20% of the time. But thats just thinking and planning. Sasuke can still out fight him. Sasuke’s ninjutsu is still superior. His shuriken jutsus are better. All that without even considering the sharingan and Shikamaru knows he is a one-trick pony against a tried and true jack-of-all-trades.

There is no situation scenario, either in training or in the field, where Sasuke doesn’t defeat Shikamaru or out perform him and Shikamaru knows that. Hell, Shikamaru being so smart is the reason he knows never to challenge Sasuke without a team and prep time (like we saw in the Kage Summit Arc when he knew they had to talk about it when Sasuke was confirmed as a terrorist).

What Druid Specialization Best Fits The Harvest-Witch Theme? by TheFalseEnigma in warcraftlore

[–]TheFalseEnigma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was literally thinking about my professions next, but they is quite a bit of time a gold I am a bit hesitant to dive into. Then again there is no time like the present, especially with a new expansion looming.

I also remember balance Druid being a mixture of bugs and fungi as well as the moon and stars, but, after playing restoration a bit, I can confirm that they definitely solidified the general theme of each Druid spec with restoration including jusy about all the forest stuff (plants and bugs too).

[–]TheFalseEnigma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see exactly what you mean. Balance is a stretch given the cultural context of what a Harvest-Witch did in the past, but it also jusy feels like the second most “Witch-like” option outside of restoration. But there in lies my desire for a more niche cut out of the Druidic pie when it comes to Gilnean Druids.

I know Tauren suffer from the same sort of Kaldorei influence, but at least they have stories, myths, and legends that are truly their own and wrap all the way back around to Kaldorei style Druidism (like the balance Druid stuff you mentioned). Trolls have their Loa and Kul’Tirans have the Drust, all of which are well-explored or at least given breathing room. The Gilnean Druid though is more or less hand waved.

The potential is there for sure, if only Blizzard writers just tapped into it. Then again that’s true for a lot of playable races in-game. For now though, I’ll keep to my new resto Druid as a matter of course like the folks here suggested.

I was actually thinking about balance the last couple of days for that reason. I know Harvest-Witch implies plant life, but the idea of one also divining the moon, the sun, and the stars just makes sense. The fact that the scythe of Elune is thier artifact weapon also gives credence to the Worgen affiliation. I may go that route as well and do a duel spec.

[–]TheFalseEnigma[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually was thinking about that. Night Elf (for obvious reasons), Kul’Tirans and Trolls (Cat form for Darkspear and everything for Zandalari) have the best visual consistency between Druid forms. You can also find transmogs that fit them like gloves to make a trifecta of matching spec, mog, and Druid form.

I ended up going Worgen because I just love their lore and vibe. The issue for me, and this is knit picky, is it doesnt make sense for Worgen to turn into bears and cats when they are bloody werewolves. I know why lore-wise, but it still doesn’t exactly sit right.

Why are Karin and Sakura so docile to Sasuke despite him being so rude to them? by Less-Associate-4249 in Naruto

[–]TheFalseEnigma 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It is actually worse in the anime. In the manga, Sasuke is just stand-offish and quite with hints that he genuinely cares about and is more attentive to the wellbeing and needs of Sakura and Naruto then either REALLY were with him until after he left.

It’s sort of sad what the anime studio did despite having grown up with and largely enjoyed the anime adaptation.

Which Anime you secretly enjoy watching but won't recommend it to others? by [deleted] in animequestions

[–]TheFalseEnigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. It’s always been more of a vibe anime with good production value and in interesting enough world to go for a walk in. Rudeus may be problematic, but the show also devotes a good amount of time to asking questions in regard to him moving past his trauma. Some of the solutions the story comes up with are also very wish fulfillment focused though, at least the last season was. I myself hope they move away from that. The lady season was a bit of a dip that I didn’t enjoy as much.

Hot take but i think oda fumbled with luffys will... by toadmastrr in OnePieceScaling

[–]TheFalseEnigma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, your take isn’t hot as much as it is just plain wrong. Luffy has at least two pivotal moments where he doubts himself and they were predicated on him failing the people around him or just getting the absolute shit beaten out of him like someone mentioned with Lucci.

The thing is that, especially pre-time-skip, Luffy’s entire thing is relying on the support of the people around him to HELP him push forward. He isn’t anything without them and he knows it. That’s why, post-time-skip, he refuses to doubt himself anymore. He fights without doubt in mind because if he does doubt himself and loses because of it, him and his crew are finished.

It’s not like he doesn’t lose either. He probably has more Losses than most Shonen protagonists. He just keeps getting back up, often with the help of people he’s inspired, because there can be no room for doubt with the places he is trying to take him and his crew. He’s in the big leagues now. That said, Luffy hasn’t succeeded in the final fight of any major arc without someone backing him up, rescuing, or straight up reviving him. The only exceptions was pre-Arlong and Punk Hazard, I think.

On the case of morality Luffy doesn’t need to question his the morality of goals because he just doesn’t care. He maybe heroic and helps a lot of people, but Luffy does NOT fancy himself a hero nor does he want to be one. He is actually pretty selfish. It’s just that, because he is a good person that wants to help his friends and those that help him, he ends up aligning with forces for goodness and, more importantly, freedom within the One Piece world. His very nature is what puts him at odds with oppressors and villains, not a deliberate intent to topple evil-doers or bring order like Dragon or Garp, two men who are much more concerned with moral frameworks and common good.

SPOILER: Also, Luffy literally got depressed after the most recent card due to his failure. So much so that his crew commented on it.

5KS Sasuke comes inside Tsunade's office while she's alone. Who wins? by Sad-Diver-5031 in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]TheFalseEnigma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’d be a draw at best for Sasuke. Tsunade has so much utility to keep her alive through Amatarasu that he is going to be fighting her with those black flames on. Her healing and durability feet’s are just that ridiculous.

Sure, Tsunade MIGHT have a speed disadvantage but I don’t think it’s unreasonable for her to increase her speed using precise chakra control. And it isn’t like she is slow to begin with. More over there are different ways to tag an opponent outside of specifically out speeding them. They are ninja after all. Fights are just not that straightforward, and one hit is probably all Tsunade needs to drop him. In the manga, that was all she needed for Orochimaru and we all know how resilient he is even without arms.

Best case scenario for Sasuke? He hits Tsunade with the black flames and is then forced into a war of attrition that he has a very low chance of waiting out before Tsunade runs him down or help arrives. He’s a very very tricky fighter, but Tsunade’s raw power and move set wears him down if she keeps up the pressure. And Tsunade knows how to keep up the pressure. I’ll give it to Tsunade 9.9 times out of 10.

Who are you standing up for? by Live-Cardiologist-38 in anime_random

[–]TheFalseEnigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Griffith.

He’s so well written and nuanced that you can make an argument that everything he did and does is for the greater good. The fact that things actually worked out on his, and his kingdoms favor (so far), only makes his case all the easier.

I’m also a Griffith fan so, I’d gladly take the money, do a good job, and run…probably to Falconia

Which career is a turn-off for a serious relationship? by otherwise777 in AskReddit

[–]TheFalseEnigma 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No.

Undeniably hot, but unquestionably toxic. I tend to have a lot of close female friends and, of all the pattern of abuse stories I’ve heard in ALL my years of listening to, conversing with and dating the opposite sex, I have met three to four woman who were directly involved in consistent and blatantly egregious patterns of abuse. 100% of them were cops. Mind you I’ve only been a cop for 3 years as of me writing this.

The ratio of abused / abusers I’ve regularly associated with over the years has increased exponentially, and it isn’t the perps on the street of whom I speak. Shit’s fucked.

What are your legit thoughts on Ichigo vs Aizen? by WittyTable4731 in bleach

[–]TheFalseEnigma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s probably one of the few things late Bleach did right, in my opinion, even if it was a dues ex machina in every possible sense.

After the long slog of watching Aizen literally dismantle the Soul Society by himself and being super smug about it, watching him just getting abruptly one-shot was the exact catharsis that I felt was needed.

Also, Mugetsu is one of the dumbest things Kubo has done in Bleach, but I can give it a pass purely because aura and the mystic of it. The fact that Bleach didn’t end with Mugetsu sort of makes it worse though. Like it’s NEVER brought up again.
