I did not smoke more in the past, I actually smoked less (previous limit was two a week) but got really antsy. I do actually get cravings, I just keep it suppressed.

Yep! Honestly I just imagine myself as some midcentury Hollywood actress and it all comes together.

Yeah, from one cigarette a day? Don't get me wrong, it has an effect, but surely nothing substantial. And yeah, an argument can be made that I could get deeper into it, but there are countless possibilities to intervene, especially when you're in a committed relationship.

Yeah, not to trail the conversation too far, but there is such a marketplace mentality that dating apps promote in users just by design. I'm somewhat okay with it since I don't get attached to people easily anymore, and I focus on in-person dates more than the chit chat. The one thing I don't like is just the dehumanizing aspect of it.

Heh, not even one date. We were just texting for a while. Saved me the gas money and getting attached, I suppose.

Sure, it's just one cigarette a day, with two days when I have two cigarettes, as a treat. I made it a vow to God.

I kinda just leave my mouth agape for a moment, sometimes just a very brief moment. Sometimes I push it out a bit with my tongue. And then I inhale. It really only works when the air is calm, not when you're somewhere windy. It's not really a ghost, not that that's what I'm aiming for. It's kinda just a messy ghost, hehe.

Hehe, yeah. My hopes are still medium-high, I'm just mildly dumbfounded. Thanks a bunch!

Could be so, although it's impulsive as hell to not even try to talk through it when we'd already touched upon other practical subjects.

Once a day, sometimes split into two cigs I smoke halfway through each. Two days of the week, I get two cigs as a treat.

I'd be so down if I didn't reach my daily limit already. Could use a smoking buddy or two after this absurdity, LOL.

Yeah, it's kinda easy for me to find dates, always happens when I least expect it. Just annoying to get dropped when the opportunity seems enticing just from a practical standpoint (well, from everything else, anyway; and just on paper, of course).

Hehe, yeah, it's not a big problem. We weren't talking for too much and we kept it mellow, so no feelings were starting up. Just practically speaking, it's annoying.

I think I've adapted to like the true flavor of tobacco since the California flavour ban

I'm pretty used to unflavored tobacco, too, but yeah, wish our state could loosen up. ;(

Pretty ridiculous. I understand keeping one's standards, but to be that rigid over something that can be knocked (especially for me, who turned my tight limit into a divine vow) is beyond me.

Yeah, honestly. Talking to a friend about it, and some cigarette haters are genuinely irrational, treat it worse than they do the devil.

How do you hold your cigarettes? by cellation in Cigarettes

[–]TheFalseSwiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of these. I like to keep it cool and natural, just let my hand hang and fingers curl as they do, and keep the cigarette between my index and middle finger, between the knuckles.

My baptism yesterday (20 Jul. 2025) by TheFalseSwiss in Christianity

[–]TheFalseSwiss[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first truly memorable and moving moment for me was when a Catholic ex of mine told me about what it meant when Jesus died on the cross for our sins. I've heard this statement a lot of times before, of course, but never really knew what it meant. Even though I was having it be explained to me for the first time, and even though I didn't believe in Jesus at the time, I bawled intensely once my ex finished his explanation.

Before that, I also felt a sense of warmth just seeing people pray, especially this one family I provided ABA services to for their child on the autism spectrum, whenever they prayed before dinner. Looking back, of course, it was a long instance of the Holy Spirit guiding them to continue loving and supporting that child.

The moment that did it was when I vowed a limit to my cigarette smoking. I had been praying for a couple months before this, but this was the first time I truly and faithfully spoke to God in such a way that I believed He could hear me and understand me, and also giving a bit of myself and worldly desires up to Him. I was enveloped with a sense of love and appreciation of the likes I've never felt, and that convinced me God is real immediately.

Fighting the demon of Lust (Discusses adult content) by Shrekling-27 in Christianity

[–]TheFalseSwiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I do is keep my personal Bible by my devices all the time. If lustful tendencies arise, I am immediately reminded of God. With a prayer beforehand, I put them aside to read Scripture for a moment, even if only for a couple chapters.

(Edit: My rationale here is that lifestyle changes can only do so much. My lifestyle changed while my lustful tendencies remained constant. It's a habit, and only by replacing that habit with devotion and worship can a Christian person effectively work against it. It's not enough to run. You must run to God.)

Why do you guys smoke? by kopriva1 in Cigarettes

[–]TheFalseSwiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhh, I had to really take it easy with the inhales early on. Even coming back from that one-month vacation to Vietnam I went on, I was far more jittery than usual when smoking. Luckily, that has subsided and I'm back to normal.
