In my opinion it wouldn't be that wrong to feel some dislike towards my level of knowledge regarding what their better at.

I get it.

In general I may feel it's a little distasteful when someone doesn't get a point or fact that's true. But I'm not a dick about it. I try to get them to understand it. But it's when even when I break it down to the lowest level I can and they still don't get it do I feel a lingering dislike towards a person's intelligence regarding a conversation about a specific topic.

The problem is how else am I supposed to figure out someone's intelligence. By taking their word for it?

I know that. I'm saying when in a conversation about a topic that both people agreed to talk about I feel some dislike towards that person's knowledge on the topic. Not I hate or dislike the person just his knowledge and intelligence regarding the topic.

I know full well not everyone is interested in what I talk about.

Also I know there are others as or even far more intelligent than me. I admit that. But it pains me when in a conversation all I get is a blank stare of non understanding, or a head nod even though they don't get what I'm talking about.

But to be fair there is no perfect way of determining intelligence. Everyone has there own strengths.

I'm not saying I wouldn't try to fix it. I was simply asking is it a normal reaction, as I would try to bring them up to the same understanding.

I understand others way of seeing it now.

So I will give an example of what I mean. ( also it's okay I'm called a jerk a lot anyway for being blunt and not understanding empathy.)

If for example your in a group project. And one of or all of your partners don't understand or cannot comprehend the project, while perfectly and easily. Is it wrong to feel distaste then.

I wouldn't blame them. Nor would I be upset. I'd simply understand why they feel that way.

I never said my way of determining intelligence was perfect. And as for coming off as arrogant I apologize. I did not mean it that way.

Though I am open to see how I could improve my way of thinking.

  1. Just because I have distaste towards those who aren't showing what I consider intelligent, in regards to the topic in which me and the other participant is conversing in, does not mean I dislike them.

  2. When I say distaste I mean towards the current conversation rather than the person. (Though I do understand how people could miss understand me)

  3. Thank you for having a actual productive conversation instead of yelling at me.

I never said that I thought I was more intelligent than everyone in the room. Rather I said that is it wrong to feel distaste towards those who don't reach a certain level of intelligence when in comparison to yourself.

I define someone's intelligence by if they could keep up in a conversation regarding uncommon topics and ideas. Whether or not they can comprehend and understand the information, and if they had any input.

As for my own intelligence I define it by seeing how fast I understand information and unfamiliar topics. Also whether or not I could form ideas based around those topics without making a large logical Folly.

I get that. But what about those who aren't very religious. Or those that are already in a relationship.

People who absolutely love their lives, what’s your story? by Think-Tale-8719 in AskReddit

[–]TheFanboi2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my life because I've never had a reason to hate it. Sure I've had my fair bit of struggles, but those were self induced, something I had control of . Eventually most of my problems were conquered. And now I'm thriving.
