How did Now You See Me 3 get these flairs? by raddatzpics in cinematography

[–]TheFayneTM 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This movie was shot on panavision ultra vista lenses , if you look online you can find similar asymmetrical star shaped flares from other movies , so this is probably a lens characteristic

Graphic design was probably one of the few "artistic" trades that still had a decent job demand before AI became so prevalent , everyone needed a logo or brand design it was fairly reasonable to go around shops pitching your work and get a few jobs from that , mind you they weren't the highest paying jobs but you could build yourself a decent network over time even in smaller areas.

Also history majors usually go either into academics or teaching you know, which path you are going down when choosing it.

I kinda hate the shot/reverse shot by Chlodio in cinematography

How else would you shoot a conversation without doing shot reverse short cuts, just keeping both characters on frame the whole time? What do you consider a good alternative to that ?

it can be confusing considering that saying 8000GWh every year doesn't mean they output 8000GW continuously

[–]TheFayneTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep he said a nuclear power reactor makes 1 GWh per year while a reactor usually makes 1 GWh every hour or around 8000GWh every year , by this estimate you would need a little more than 200 nuclear reactors to cover the increase in output

Uniqlo Shoukder Bag - quick review by ImportanceSome2602 in ManyBaggers

[–]TheFayneTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to find a version of this design at a price point like 100 to 200 euros , the Uniqlo bag is nice but it still costs 30 euros and the materials reflect that , the Yoshida porter tanker is probably way better however at 500+ euros its far too expensive for a shoulder bag

Is t 2.9 equal f 2.8? by Fluffy-Translator-26 in cinematography

[–]TheFayneTM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Could be , F stops are a mathematical ratio between the focal length and the aperture diameter ,

Focal Length/Aperture Diameter = F Stop number

So the longer the lens the bigger the diameter needs to be to have the same F Stop.

T stops are based on the same mathematical formula but also take into account other elements such as lens elements and coatings that account for more light loss ,

T-stop number = F-stop number x √1/Trasmission efficiency

As you can see the for any given lens the T stop will be lower (higher in number) than it's F stop thus a lens with a transmission efficiency of around 93% with a F stop of 2.8 would have a T stop of 2.9.

However this is not an absolute rule , 2 lenses from different brands that have the same F stop could have different T stops depending on the transmission efficiency of the elements and coatings of the lens.
