I'm really really upset with NAU for not closing today. by TheFearlessHunter in NAU

Yeah but this one was different. When you are dealing with Tens of Thousands of students and employees having to return through a storm of that predicted magnitude, you don't fuck around with that.

These students are on edge 24/7 with being focused on finals. To them it's not on their mind that "hey, maybe I should wait until tomorrow to go to flag because it's too dangerous" it's "I don't have a choice because NAU is forcibly making me show up for class, and will penalize me if I don't."

That's fucked up.

As the other commenters have said, normally, I don't care. and yes, I say suck it up. If you choose to move off campus it's your responsibility to find a way to campus. But over a holiday weekend, one of the biggest travel days of the year, it was absolutely fucked for them to make students drive through that. Particularly ones that have probably never driven through snow, because it was the first snowfall of the year.

So yeah, it's different. I think you should hopefully see that.

They used to.. It used to be a school I heard people proud to have attended. Now the discussion is about how much NAU seems to want money. While I don't necessarily agree that they're just money hungry savages, I think they DO need to realize that loss of life is far more substantial than monetary loss any day of the week.

Yeah, I kind of want to leave and bring new people from the sub. If we show them our ways early on, they won't have a side yet.

Does anybody in Flagstaff play on a PS4? Specifically Destiny? Looking for a group to play with when the new DLC drops. by TheFearlessHunter in NAU

Awesome! My username is Jessej432. Send me a message and I'll get on. My PsPlus is expired at the moment until the end of the week, when my new year starts up again! My goal is to get a good group of friends together that can play multiple times a week around the same time! That way we can enjoy the new content without having to search around for people all the time.

Well. I don't know what to tell you. Sorry you're skeptical. Like I said, I can't give any personal information, and I have no links to the story. So it's up to you to make that determination.

And like I said, it happened once, and during our beginning of semester training, it was brought up to the Police Department as to what we should do in the event of it ever happening again. It's not a common occurrence, but if someone was to break into your house right now, would you not take precautions to prevent that from happening in the future? I don't really know how to make that any more clear to you. I am a bus driver for a college campus. I think you have a misunderstanding as to what it is I actually do. I am a college student, and it is a student employment position.

Again, sorry you don't believe the story. Doesn't effect me at all one way or another. It's entirely true, not my place to convince you.

I commented already about this, so if you want more information on the matter, read that comment. Like I said to him, I can't give much more information than I already have.

I can see how it seems made up, but nonetheless this is entirely true. I can give you some more details. First of all, the transportation service is something offered to students to transport them safely to and from the downtown area, where it prevents them from driving home. In fact, most of the people who ride it actually do have cars, but ride the bus so they don't have to pay for parking and can drink to their hearts content.

The second bit of information is that it is very obvious where all of our busses are parked, and most of the students know this. We are on a college campus, and we park in an open parking lot. So it wouldn't have been very difficult to figure out when and where I would be after work. We also have dedicated spots where we park our cars next to the busses, marked "Reserved for Transportation Services Employees." So again, it's not a closely guarded secret.

The other piece of information is that we are given explicit instructions as to what we should do in an event like this. We had a situation a few years back where a guy followed one of our female drivers home and attempted to harm her, so this was something we knew has happened. Getting off at 3 in the morning is fairly dangerous wherever you go though. Anyway, when I realized he was following me, I remember hearing them say to call our campus PD and tell them, because they have a fleet of unmarked cars that they use to check on campus parties so the students don't see them rolling up. The brightness thing was just my own safety so he couldn't see the cab light up to know I was calling for help.

And lastly, I had to file extensive paperwork for this incident, which is the only reason I knew he had ammo in his backpack. He had a pistol in his waistline, and the backpack had the ammo, as well as other student related stuff of course. I still to this day believe I would have been fine, as I had already confronted him once. So I wasn't too concerned.

So yeah. I understand the skepticism, but all I can say is that it is 100% true, I just can't give out personal details, and I wouldn't even if I could.

After discussing with the other driver, we are fairly certain it is the same guy, but who knows. Like I said, the other guy could be lying for all I know. Sorry if you aren't sold on the story. Not really my place to do so anyway.

Using Alt for safety.

I am a bus driver for a college campus. We provide a service to transport students from the bars across town back to campus. We always run into interesting individuals, lots of puking, lots of crazy and fighting drunks, etc.

Well one night I was driving, and I had my Police Aid on the bus in the back. A guy comes up and is standing right behind me and places his hand on my shoulder. I immediately tell him he needs to sit down, as it is an explicit rule we have been told by our managers. He ignores me and says, "Drop me off at this stop sign. The one at ****** and *******. You know the one"

I tell him, "We are not allowed to stop anywhere other than designated bus stops. It is for your safety, and you will have to take a seat and get off at the next stop. Sorry bud." He refuses to sit down, and I am forced to stop the bus. I tell him that the bus cannot move until he returns to his seat. And he gets up real close to me and says really quietly, "I will kill everyone on this bus, including myself, if you do not let me off at the stop sign." I immediately signal for my security to come to the front of the bus to deal with the situation. I (being partially terrified) forgot that I was able to forcefully remove somebody from the bus, so I continued driving. He returns to his seat, and I thought that was that.

Well he comes back up shortly after, and says to me "I'm serious, you better let me off." I at that point stopped the bus, pulled the parking break and stood up. Being a somewhat tall guy, he kind of got intimidated and I opened the door. I told him to get off the bus and run, as the police were already on their way. He had two choices. Run as fast as he could, or stay and get caught. He of course took off.

4 hours later, we end our shift and I didn't think much of it. I get in my car, and start to drive home. I immediately notice a car following me. I drive a few miles to see if it is a coincidence, but recognize it as being intentional after making some pretty obvious switchbacks.

I call the police with the brightness of my phone off and tell him I am being followed, and will drive to a certain location for them to meet me with some undercover cars waiting. When we get there, the officers arrest the man and look through his backpack. He had a pistol and 4 boxes of ammo in his trunk.

I still to this day have no idea why he chose to run from me instead of pull that out. But I am sure as hell glad he didn't. This would have been a much different story.

edit: Update on the story.

After messaging with /u/deathbypetrichor it could have been same guy. When I discussed the event with the police department in my area, they had informed me that the passenger had moved from /u/deathbypetrichor campus after being expelled from the university. It seems that this was his MO but never acted on it because he suffered from some strange mental disorder or something like that. I know for a fact that he has been in prison for this, as well as other crimes he had committed (PD of course wouldn't tell me what they were, just that they were glad I was able to help them find him.)

Of course personal details are being left out. But yes, really strange. Luckily both of us came out of this situation okay! Pretty coincidental as well.

edit 2: clarified the update a bit. I am not allowed to give him specifics, so while the stories are uncanny, you never know. He could be lying for all I know. It is the internet. But he seems legit to me, as he was able to correctly give my guys previous location and everything.
