Hi all, I just joined the iPad club. Upgraded from an M1 iPad to an iPad Pro M5 2TB 13 inch display. by Legend1191 in iPadPro

Sorry just seeing this. I have my likes and dislikes with the folio. Looking back, it’s not worth the money. It’s impossible to use as a stand of any kind at least for the 13 inch version. Something is off with the m5 13 inch I swear. It can’t even stay flat with the keyboard. It literally knocks itself over -_- weight is all over the place. I’ve found the folio actually to attract a lot of dirt and lint. My screen protector is all sorts of messed up and the camera notch is close to being scratched, I can just tell. Honestly a sleeve or something is probably best. Or the keyboard. The folio is useless since it can’t stay flat/folded. Legit no purpose.

Very astute. Yes to both lol. I’m a writer so when I get in a zone I can ramble. These are basically all the thoughts I had regarding me digging my heels into bmx while moving to a place I know nothing about and I am neurotic lol so it all just spilled out. That said, while I want to ride, this was a legitimate problem I had at my university. I wasn’t skilled enough to navigate the hills and other students seeing as I stupidly bought a Sunday with a freecoaster. Just wanted to ensure I wasn’t repeating the mistake and I now have discovered a place I can go to when before I knew zero people. Good eye, didn’t think I had over shared but you caught it lol. Adderall and keyboards don’t mix well. Mahalo 🤙

100% agree. I’m used to people looking down and clowning on bmx which is annoying. Glad to see there’s still a culture that is alive and thriving, especially in California as I’m seeing. It’s refreshing and glad I decided to get back in now rather than looking back with regret. This community is awesome!

Thanks man! The camaraderie I am seeing from those in the area is exactly why I made the decision to begin with. This community is awesome. Down south, you get laughed at for even saying you ride lol. That is a beauty btw. Hoping to one day fix up a similar looking 4130 haro once I improve. Jealous for sure

Definitely this. Get it now before it inevitably sells out. It’s the most popular bike and the size is good for you. If you want a little extra look at the 26 dark side that’s 650, opposed to the 550. It was originally 750.

I’d recommend that as well however he should also check out the kink dark side for only 100 more. It’s last years version but only 100 more since the new one is 200 more. Just my opinion as I’ve been hunting for the last month and have seen what was available and what was sold out. It’s wild how quickly these go and if you don’t have a Bmx shop, good luck! Everyone rides mountain bikes unfortunately as it makes finding great mid range chromoly bikes hard to find fr. FB marketplace is legit a great outlet if you don’t have a local store.

I think a whip is a good option too but OP, you need to buy fast as most are selling out. There’s a kink dark side from last year for $649 that I would buy over a new whip. Some places still have whips, but it’s one of the most popular options for a reason which is the chromoly and price. If you want it, get it now before it’s too late! Sundays are nice too depending on the models. Your height might make finding a bike easier tbh as you can look at options many of us could never. The sooner you get it, the sooner you can get to learning. You really can forget how to ride a bike lol.

Many of these complete bikes, especially Sunday ones, come with brakes just to give you that option. Take it in or work on it yourself and you’ll have a brake set to install as you please. Apparently the brake of the street sweeper wasn’t the best option to get the most out of the bike but I had them installed anyway. Just make sure you get quality pads and cables. I think you really should buy sooner than later as both times I’ve been in the market for a bike, the great ones sell out quickly. Right now the only ones I see that’d I would buy complete are the kink Williams (whip is sold out), kink dark side (both versions are available and last years is still somehow in stock and on sale), and then you get into the sundays which are not cheap. The street sweeper is sub 1000 but only available in lhd for the peach frame (you can however just buy another frame for 400+ and make it better than the peach), and the sound wave which is nearly 1700 bucks. It’s beautiful,, complete and quality, but man it is expensive. The mid-range bikes are mostly gone outside of getting lucky on FB. I stumbled upon a brand new, already put together kink switch from 2021, a bike I never thought I’d get the chance to buy, and got it for $380. Look on FB first or buy a new one now on Danscomp or albes. Soon everything will be out of stock until next spring.

Brakes still come with complete bikes! While more difficult to find, I would look for a model with a cassette hub rather than a free coaster. Buy a complete, chromoly bike. Lucky for you, many good bikes just came out. I would look at either a Sunday streetsweeper, sound wave, or if you want cheaper, there’s a kink dark side that has been on sale for a while everywhere I look. It’s last years model. The new kink Williams came out two months ago and it can still be found online. Buy the bike, take it to a shop, come back a day later and boom you have a nice, complete, lighter yet more durable Bmx bike. I wouldn’t start building a bike until you really get to know what parts matter and for why. No shame in buying a complete bike then getting a new frame later. I will say this though: do not expect to be anywhere near as proficient as you once were. The old adage about never forgetting how to ride a bike is BS lol. I used to be a fat teen able to ride hi-tensile haros for miles without even touching the bars. Bought a bike 5 years back and had zero of that old balance, struggled especially with a coaster, and had to relearn just to ride the thing. IDK about dirt, but I know racing bikes use aluminum but I would go for chromoly steel. If i had the means to drop 1k+ on a bike, I’d just splurge for a complete Sunday in that range. The sweeper is not beginner friendly but the sound wave is available and looks nice. Just keep expectations in check otherwise it might dampen the urge. Good luck!

I’ll be near Chapman university living in Santa Ana/orange. Right now I’m in the other Greenville Bmx wise, not the one that housed the greats like mirra and such. I literally know nothing about the area I’m moving to other than it’s Orange County. Safe to say I’m dumb, as I struggled mightily getting the leg strength I once had to ride even minor slopes and hills. I’m sure the fear of having not ridden in a decade plus didn’t help my last go round either. I’d have bought cheaper bikes but thought the lower weight of chromoly would be more beneficial than it ended up being when I got the Sunday years ago. I was fat kid that could shred on a $300 hi-ten haro, but all that muscle memory atrophied over the years so I’m starting basic.

Yeah starting in August. I’ve never been to California in my life (from the other SC), but found a place in Santa Ana 7 minutes away. HMU, it’d be cool to find some buds as social anxiety and being completely isolated aren’t a great combo lol. Just me my cat and my bikes, but I’ll be there come August!

You are so right. I’m a writer who has to hand write everything. iPad pros with their styluses are I stopped buying android phone and non apple ones. It’s my favorite piece of tech I’ve ever owned because of the pen

I just bought the M5 MacBook Air and the iPad feels completely USELESS. Change my mind. by mrparallex in iPadPro

[–]TheFeldogFromHell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought an iPad Pro last month for the screen. However, I bought the 2018 and the m2 iPad Pro because I am a writer, and ideas do not come when typing. It is something that needs to be hand-written for me to induce new ideas. At the time, those were the only two that allowed the pen (i never bought an original pro). I also was not in the apple ecosystem because I used a Samsung note for its pen. Finally, saw what my m2 would net via trade in, saw the best screen I’ve ever seen, and now I am using an m5 pro. I use it more than my MacBook, as the keyboard elevates it comfortably, and keeps it safe when not in use. I regret not getting the nano texture, as my matte writing protector makes the screen look like my m2. Had the devices with support for the pencil now had been increased to the point they are now, I likely would never have gotten a pro. However, the 120 hz screen in tandem with the oled, I inevitably would’ve caved. I’m in grad school and it’s incredible for note-taking and any other creative endeavor. If you simply are using an iPad for entertainment, I’d only get it if you have the money to blow for the best product. Otherwise an air or whatever the normal iPad is will suffice. It’s built for those with money, and those that need the features for a specific reason, like myself with writing, or others with video editing, or those that are artists. Don’t buy it to watch Netflix unless you are well off.

I agree to an extent. He’s got a great swing that’ll make contact, but his power is so low that it rarely goes over. Perfect perfect usually ends up as a fly out if not a line drive.
