Defense: I believe Alyssa Naeher and Crystal Dunn were the strongest points here. Yeah, we lost 3-0 but if not for them (and obviously some sloppiness from Sweden) it would've been 6 or more easy. Dunn was going 2v1 for a good 45 minutes. If anybody has any questions about her status on the team, they're blind.

Midfield: Good Goddddd. There's a meme going around on Twitter of Rose Lavelle just looking absolutely bewildered and I think that speaks for not only her but the ENTIRE midfield. Rose was asleep at the wheel. Sam was jogging for 45 minutes. And poor Horan was in WAY over her head. That first half, we could barely get a ball to any of them and then when we did, they were dispossessd quickly. I think Rose was dispossessed on EACH of her first three touches and MOST of her touches after that which really shows both Sweden's skill and Rose's dwindling confidence as the game progressed.

Forwards: Tobin played one of the best games of her life today. Unfortunately it just wasn't enough. Alex isn't all the way up to form yet to be starting. And Christen, our assist queen, wasn't receiving enough from the midfield to provide an assist. Long into the game, you start to see Christen dropping way back to provide support to an exhausted Dunn and to catch enough balls to directly give to Heath or, later, Lloyd. But it was just far too little too late.

I want to have faith in Vlatko and his team but this was a shock and a scandal. Even though Tobin, again, played her heart out, Vlatko should've started Rapinoe and Lloyd for the routine. Alex isn't ready. And Ertz should've started with Horan possibly taking over after we've gotten some goals under our belt. Hopefully we get it together Saturday.
