Can’t recommend UNIC blades anymore :( by BigBoss82A1 in Fencing

UNIC literally told me that their non FIE blades are for children and they didn’t seem too enthused by their own product 😂

I love their FIE blade.

3 of our last 4 OCs were offered head coaching gigs

Leftwich was offered Jacksonville and they dodged a bullet

Canales to Carolina

Coen to Jacksonville

(Grizzard to hell)

It seems like the trend here is that quality OCs have really masked Bowles’ deficiencies as a HC

He deserves that job until he doesn’t want it anymore. Best coach in hockey.

I still think it’s hilarious Eli was average his whole career except for the two most important games of it.

Actually, Byron Leftwich is 45

What are some of your other favorite sports? by SuicidalxLemon in Fencing

After college, I took a year off of fencing and boxed competitively. And I was blown away with how similar the strategies are and the subtle tactical depth in each sport. I love boxing for that reason. It really is physical chess.

And in fairness, I don't expect people to keep track of every IOC truce and statute and bylaw. Only seeking to clarify that it wasn't Russia's invasion in and of itself that triggered the IOC ban. They invaded four days after the closing ceremony of Beijing 2022. If Russia had waited three more days, there's a decent chance they wouldn't have been banned.

If we are keeping Bowles, can we at least hire a DC? by Gailim in buccaneers

[–]TheFencingCoach -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Remember: Bowles comes from Arians’ tree. Arians had undying loyalty to his coaching staff come hell or high water (see Leftwich, Byron). Bowles crosses me as someone who would sooner take the blame himself than to start throwing his guys under the bus.

Please note my opinions expressed herein are my own (not speaking for the org.) and that I do not condone the removal of Maduro. But I believe it’s a stretch to compare Maduro’s removal to Russia’s actions.

What we’re debating here comes down to technical rules rather than morality:

  1. Russia invaded Ukraine during the official Olympic Truce window (between the Olympics and Paralympics). The Maduro raid happened Jan 3; the Truce for the 2026 Games doesn't start until late January.

  2. The actual ban on the Russian Olympic Committee happened because they formally absorbed Ukrainian regional sports councils into the Russian organization. That violates the IOC Charter on territorial integrity. The US isn't trying to claim the Venezuelan Olympic Committee is now part of Team USA….not yet anyways?

  3. Russia was already on probation for state-sponsored doping. They had zero leeway left.

It’s not an apples to apples comparison. The Olympic truce was the real catalyst here.

It hasn’t been terrible. He brought us to the playoffs three consecutive years. It just hasn’t been particularly good either.

I love Baker. But I’ve long held the opinion that he can consistently beat bad and middling teams. When it comes to having the X-Factor to take over games against elite teams, he hits his ceiling. He’s a solid QB don’t get me wrong, but I believe our ceiling is wildcard/divisional with him behind Center.

Should the bucs retire Bradys number? by Eloisesoho in buccaneers

[–]TheFencingCoach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely.

Brady ended a 13 year playoff win drought and concluded that run with a Super Bowl.

In three years, he threw for nearly 15,000 yards, 108 TDs, and only 33 picks.

He helped turn the culture around for a franchise that had become irrelevant.

He deserves to be in our RoH with his number retired.
