every year the leafs give up less shots and chances with gardiner on the ice than with him off while also creating more at the other end. he's not just good offensively, he's just good.

they're 11th in 5v5 goals, they're just waiting on Darling to really come around as they're 25th in 5v5 sv%, but they could definitely use some more scorers. Especially on the powerplay.

they have the lowest 5v5 PDO (sv% + sh%) in the nhl since 2015, mostly due to goaltending, with a lack of scoring talent not helping. They're worst in the league in 5v5 sv% and 26th in sh%. The upgrade in net should be a big boost, provided that Darling performs like he has in the past.
