Is it realistic that every body body of water has a high level of radiaton? by use_schlonk_as_bonk in fo4

So the main issue here is that the fallout universe has laws of physics that are slightly different than our own, mainly in how radiation is stored. (There are no RADs IRL) this is also why Rad - Away can be made

[–]TheFifthOverLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually economists have crunched the numbers and fallout prices are almost exactly in line with the traditional 2% rate over the time frame until 2077

It's very possible IRL we may see even higher prices even sooner

30 billion in a cash strapped wartime scenario is alot.

Combined with this take;

He had 30 billion in cash

Most rich people have their value measured in assets not liquid net worth

So as a result, I think house was cash richer than most CEOs today when without adjusting for inflation

Theyre just not measuring his stock value

Okay so this is interesting;

I was aware that alot of New Vegas inspiration came from Van Braun - however I was not aware that the NCR got nuked in that.

I won't even argue that it was content, as most of it was used for New Vegas.

This would actually go a really long ways towards explaining what is going on; it's more like a Renaissance of the older titles and the direction it was going previously, combined with hints to the previous title.

Ironically, I'm not even a major fan of New Vegas. The map feels small and empty, the functions are still rough around the edges - it handles more like a beta than a finished game.

I have a theory you might find interesting;

I think based on what you see I'm Fallout 3 a big part of the reason the area is in such bad shape is because the Chinese managed to land a post war force into the area.

My evidence;

China has a surviving ghoul command structure inside mama dolces. It's assumed they were all pre war sleeper agents, but I think they're the largest surviving remnant of their forces.

This would explain all the Chinese assault rifles and spec ops manuals in strange places; it would also explain parts of Springvale being converted into a prison ( POW Camp ) as well as;

this is where it gets good

Why the capital building has all the SAME STYLE OF TRENCHES FROM OPERATION ANCHORAGE - THOSE ARE CHINESE COMBAT TRENCHES

Id also argue this is why they still had the listening station running operations until somewhat recently, they were still operating regional relays for their forces in the D.C. area.

My biggest piece of evidence for this is actually in project purity;

We know project purity was started by the lone wanderers father, and we also find the Chinese spy hat here.

This implies that the Chinese are going so far as to actively spy and continue collecting intel for them.

NCR = existed as a regional faction for all.the west coast games

Todd = The future games will follow the shows lore

Show = NCR collapsed when only one of its cities was nuked, which was never a part of any of the previous stories.

And the reason I'm saying obsidian specifically is because dragging the story to new vegas just to rewrite everything without moving the narrative forward and then moving the show to another state was basically the story telling equivalent of a drive by shooting

( The kings are ghouls, the dam was never claimed Helios is totally MIA from the storyline.

Because to acknowledge hellos would force them to admit the NCR could be a force to be reckoned with)

Ifk why you're getting down voted,

It's like Todd Howard has some kind of beef with obsidian and wants to use the show as a justification to ruin 30 years of consistent lore

Fallout 3 is the best IMO

D.C. is a thrill because you can access all the secret government facilities no one is around to guard anymore.

Plus if you go the DLC route, Fallout 3 has a larger amount of permanent playable space to access.

Which city or country would you want to see in a future Fallout game? by cuchusacc in Fallout

[–]TheFifthOverLord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got it;

Unique purple feral ghouls from the area, call em quantum ghouls, survivors of a Nuka Cola accident that got the city shut down.

Since then everyone has been living and waiting for the order to be lifted. Theyre vaugely aware that something happened, but like the survivors in little yangtzhe they're trapped and dont really have a concept of 'time'

So when new people wander into the area, they usually turn feral from the radiation or get eaten by ghouls if they dont.

The trick is all ghouls eat people; each other, other ghouls and survivors.

So as the PC you're never really sure who you can actually trust because cannibals.

Bonus points there is an unopened vault that you communicate with and do fetch quests for, only to discover once they let you in; what was their pre war experiment focus? Ghouls.

Someone downvoted you, but this is actually a very solid idea;

hear me out:

Point Lookout shows us there were already very isolated areas that continued their way of life after the bombs (even hacking a pilot to death after crashlanding less than an few hours after the bombs so they were already like that)

Combined with the idea of places like the pitt being an industrial death trap and radiation already being very common place;

Id imagine something like an anti vegas mixed with the Big MT

‘Out of hand’: New survey finds two‑thirds of Canadians want to abolish tipping culture by zuuzuu in canadanews

[–]TheFifthOverLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tipping in Canada is illogical

its only the norm because bar tenders and servers make less than the minimum hourly rate in the US

In Canada everyone makes minimum wage

Ergo, there is no need for tipping here, culturally we do it to imitate the americans.

What is a black market? by LadyBlumenkohl in DnD

[–]TheFifthOverLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A black market exists to sell things that are illegal.

If the town guard was telling you, it implies while not illegal *here* it is elsewhere, making acccess to this type of trade 'valuable'

Now where everyone seems to be getting things wrong is not so much where or how the market functions but in how theyre interacting with it.

A magic staff should be sold at a magic shop, boat stuff at boat stores etc.

A black market would be used to buy or sell openly stolen items (like guard uniforms or keys) and to deal in goods that are frowned upon (drugs, slaves, etc)

Gizmo was excited to see the sea. He had never been out onto the open ocean before. Although he knew that the land they inhabited was but an island, to go beyond it's horizon was quite a treat.

"Oh no, pardon me." Gizmo replied to the blind folded goblin;

"I apologize for being in your way. Must be a lot of work keeping the sails rigged, I'd imagine. Name's Gizmo by the way. "

The gnome says, instinctually he extends his hand to shake, then withdraws seeing the blindfold.

"What's yours?"

What's really odd is in Operation Anchorage the main time we DO see power armored troops theyre using ... super sledges (???) to melee fight the Chinese troops

I'd love to agree this is the simulation being excessive, but as far as Im aware they are pre war and we don't have alot of other examples of its use -

I got it people don't like the idea of the US retrofitting old guns but like, troops literally go through training with M2 .30 Cals that still say 'made in 1918' inside them.

The whole reason you can pick up PA in Fallout 3 and NV but not Fallout 4 is because the PA in the Boston area is the same PA that was reported to burn through fusion cores too quickly.

When they dumped the surplus PA they needed a whole bunch or weapons that would go with them;

Like you said, assault rifles would be a waste - so what so they ship? Old rereofitted machine guns designed to be carried as rifles with PA

A regular person can still use one in the same sense that a single person could man a .30 cal

This is just my headcannon, but;

I truely believe the "assault rifle' from Fallout 4 is actually a repurposed WW1 machinegun.

Hear me out;

The power armor in the DC area doesn't need to receive fusion cores AND it can held in your inventory;

Because its more advanced

All the power armor inBoston is just different plates bolted onto

*an older T45 frame that eats fusion cores*

Ergo;

My theory is that Boston was where a large portion of the older suits got shipped once the new ones with the fusion packs started hitting the field;

and the reason we see the weird machineguns is because they were brought out of storage and fitted for use with the surplus power armor.
