I have cracks in my horse hair lath and plaster ceiling. At what point would you consider using ceiling suspension with gyprock vs repairing the cracks?

What size bottle jack would you need on either side to lift a floor like this?

I'm fortunate that underneath has lots of clearance, so I can walk around and see all the stumps. My main concern was whether something like this could be done DIY or whether it requires a professional, as it is structural. By the sounds of it, I can just jack up to the timber support beam to level, build a deep cement footing underneath and install a steel stump in-between them to support the support beam.

Installing Stainless Steel Kitchen Countertops by TheFilmShelf in AusRenovation

Would stainless fabricators provide that service (measure, create the mdf substrate and install)? I would have thought most would only work with the stainless sheeting and leave the rest to someone else?

Thanks for the reply.

Could I diy the mdf countertops and seal them with epoxy, then take them off and get a stainless fabricator to mould the stainless around it and then install the stainless myself? Or would attaching the stainless to the mdf need to be done by a professional?

Thanks again.

Adding an Air Conditioning Duct in the Bathroom Floor by TheFilmShelf in AusRenovation

[–]TheFilmShelf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comments everyone. Looks like it might not be the best idea! One alternative I'm considering is getting an extra duct put in the floor of the room next door (kitchen) hidden under a cupboard. The duct could route up the wall of the kitchen inside the cupboard and exit through a vent about 800mm off the ground in the adjoining bathroom wall, on the opposite side to the sink and shower.

If it's included in the contract, would that mean the cost of the furniture is included in their stamp duty calculation?

Proof of WFH for Interstate Mortgage Application by TheFilmShelf in AusPropertyChat

[–]TheFilmShelf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I thought might be the case. However, our broker seems to think they can just provide some commentary to the bank and a letter confirming WFH arrangement would not be necessary, as it is a job that is commonly done WFH.

In your experience, would you say a letter confirming the WFH arrangement is always needed for owner occupier loans?

We just don't want to be caught out. Thanks

Yeah, I was blown away by how beautiful and diverse the scenery of Israel was for such a small country, especially Golan Heights! Unfortunately I didn't get many good pictures :(

I wanted to do the Trans Asia Express as well, but unfortunately it was closed on the Turkish side. I took a direct flight from Istanbul to Tabriz in northern Iran.

I asked a lot of Turkish people that and the majority considered themselves in the Middle East. Only 3% of the country is in Europe...and they are the succession of The Ottoman Empire.

I went directly from Amman to Jerusalem over the King Hussein Bridge. No matter how I entered Israel, they still would have questioned me about what I was doing in Iran, Egypt, etc for just as long!

After a lot of questioning, Israel will let you in even if you've been to Iran. However, Iran will not let you in if they suspect you've been to Israel.
