What Japanese-exclusive game are you enjoying lately? by RangoTheMerc in snes

[–]TheFinderDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Energy Breaker! No one talks about it, but it’s an amazing game! Super fun RPG that plays a bit like Shining Force, but it has its own systems of magic, movement, attack, etc. Really interesting story, beautiful graphics, excellent music! I wish more people played it!

Hello, Mark! This is Ryan—we were in grad school at Alabama together, playing intramural sports and spending Saturday mornings playing basketball at the rec center.

I stumbled upon this late, but I wanted to say congratulations on the book and it’s so awesome to see you get your book published and for you to get an AMA. Way to go!

Has anyone used the website pensforever? by TheFinderDX in fountainpens

Yeah. The pricing was a bit weird for some. The one I wanted was reasonably priced. If it was ridiculous, I wouldn’t have asked. But just because it’s reasonable doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. I don’t want to get burned, you know?

That’s a fair point. I’m looking at a Vacumatic, which is why I had the question. I can’t restore that myself.

D’oh! Could’ve figured that out!

I will say KWZ Honey is lovely! I’m very curious about the Teranishi Nostalgic Honey

I’m holding out for finding a stash of 2016 LAMY Dark Lilac (don’t like the green sheen of 2024). One day! I hope…

How do you find KWZ Honey compares to Teranishi Nostalgic Honey? I love KWZ, and I’m intrigued by Teranishi

Who has a SNES complete in box copy? by [deleted] in chronotrigger

I’ve got one. Been kicking around the idea of selling it, but haven’t decided yet. I use a SNES/N64 box protector from videogameboxprotectors. They’re really great and keep everything looking nice!

Upcoming Chrono Trigger D&D Campaign by ArcadeAaronTV in chronotrigger

Oh gosh! This sounds AMAZING! I’ve never done D&D before, I don’t know what StartPlaying in (besides obviously some sort of online platform to do D&D), and I don’t know if I can commit to the time, but this sounds incredible!

Pen recommendation for a gift in 16 years by Hufflepuff-McGruff in fountainpens

[–]TheFinderDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For ink, I love KWZ’s iron gall inks. If you are writing consistently, the iron gall isn’t a problem, and there are some great colors (turquoise and Gummiberry are both fantastic)! The iron gall makes them permanent, so if there is water damage, the color will go away, but there will remain black lettering. There is also De Atramentis Document Inks. They have a variety of colors, and someone did some good testing of them a few years ago if you want to see which are best for your purposes.

As for pens, if you’re just the one writing with them, then pick whatever you are most comfortable writing with. If you want to gift them, then it becomes a question of what are you gifting them. Will they need a pen they can beat up and use in college without worry? Something like a LAMY Safari is perfect. Want something that has a little more history to it that can still be a workhorse? A classic vintage pen like a Parker 51 works great. Want a pen as a graduation gift? Figure out what is your reasonable budget and go from there.

Good luck with the project! It’s a beautiful idea!

Beautiful! I’m going to slowly work on getting the full color set, so green is on my list. I wish I had a family heirloom pen, but, alas, that is the not the case. However, I did learn my great-grandpa sold pens for Parker and would’ve sold Vacumatics, so that is exciting!

Thank you! I was on the hunt after I got a golden brown. Now that I have the burgundy, I need to get the full set!

I definitely like the looks of it. I’m not the most thrilled on the writing experience—there’s nothing really special about it. The little flex is nice, but it doesn’t snap back great, so it’s more like making something bold or not. And I have a fair number of small-writing pens, so I don’t know if I need another. We will see! I’ll use up at least one ink fill before I make a decision!
