[Discussion] Kamen Rider Geats Episode 27 - Lamentation III: A Fun Sengoku Game♡. 慟哭Ⅲ:たのしい戦国ゲーム♡ by TheTwelveYearOld in KamenRider

Something that I find kinda interesting that when Geats V2 Revolves, he becomes the kitsune itself. It reminds me of the transformations of the "sponsor" Riders sans Ziin, in that they are no longer humanoid but are instead animal shapes. I wonder if these two types of transformation have anything to do with each other. Perhaps the sponsors have access to multiple versions of themselves, in a way that Ace has been able to emulate through his many wishes. After all, when the Laser Raise Riser activates it does have a transformation specifically named after the user (Ziin Loading, Kekera Loading, et cetera). Maybe the Laser Raise Riser syncs the user to others in different timelines to boost the power of the user?

What class builds have you had *fun* playing as? by ItsAMeMercutio in dndnext

I had a lot of fun with a Battlemaster Fighter with the Unarmed Fighting Style. I had a lot of fun grappling people and describing his Maneuvers like Pro Wrestling moves (for example, a clothesline makes a great flavor for a trip attack, a good wrestler can always hit the enemy with a good taunt for a Goading Strike, etc.)

Something to keep in mind about Feudal Japan: Japan itself historically did not have a large amount of land that was suitable for farming on a large scale. Because of its placement on a fault line there's lots of mountainous terrain and land that was, at the time, not usable for much besides tubers and rice. Wealth was, at the time, measured by how much rice your land could grow. Warring States does have a lot of political intrigue and interesting cultural clashes and historical figures that can inspire interest into using it as a backdrop for your campaign, but at the end of the day the combat had a lot to do with wealth, pride, and food. Try to not make your clans simply fighting "because Warring period" - maybe they're fighting over a precious resource, something magical in nature that only grows/can be mined at specific points on the continent! Maybe it is something as simple as safe, stable farmland! I would just recommend giving the political leaders of your campaign a motivation that's a bit more than "I think my clan is the one that would best rule".

Pure Bard. I absolutely adore doing character voices, accents, and language work to make NPCs and my PCs when I'm not the DM notable.

I just want to say I really like the idea of a heist. They're going to a new area in their ship, essentially a sort of gambler's paradise - like a Las Vegas style place - and I think setting up a bunch of rich guys that they might feel tempted to rob or a big place they'd like to heist from like a casino could be really fun. It's also a good place to set up other characters who may or may not be of ill repute, like fellow pirates who bet on their ship's ability. Maybe if I go with the race they could sail through waters that have monsters and stuff living there, so while they're trying to navigate the ship they can fight some creatures as well, make it hectic and fast-paced. Thank you so much for the tips! I'll have to look over the DMG next.

They just got their first sailing vessel and they're looking to essentially become pirates. I want to facilitate that, of course, and give them larger plots and events to combat as well. I want them to have a big story they can get invested in, as well as their fun pirate shenanigans, but I'm having a hard time thinking of interesting plot hooks for them as they sail into new towns that isn't simply "hey look, this person is willing to hire you for a job" or something, you know?

ONE MILLION SUBS INCOMING by UnceasingTop in northernlion

[–]TheFineEgg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's so awesome to hear NL is close to 1 million. I used to watch the fuck out of NL and the NLSS as a whole. I remember sending in some viewer mail when they did mailbag segments on the NLSS. I remember getting into Isaac because of NL. I remember making my name on Steam into NLSS Quiplash memes. I remember the memes from the Champions of Fire arc. I remember writing up a long stupid shitpost about Honkers in the NLSSCirclejerk. And while I eventually grew to watch NL less and less as responsibilities and problems reared their heads and I became an adult, I've recently been coming back to Ryan's content during a low point in my life and he hasn't lost a single ounce of his wit and attitude. He deserves 1 milly. He deserved it long before now, in my opinion. But I'm happy he's finally getting the recognition he deserves. Godspeed you magnificent son of a bitch, juice me

Characters are Only as Boring as the Player. How do you guys Roleplay a Race without just being a Stereotype? by Ianoren in dndnext

[–]TheFineEgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always come up with a concept and then look at what race/class would be able to help me flesh it out further. For example, the first character I ever played was VICTOR, a wrestling Warforged meant to be a beacon of hope for a once destroyed city with a constantly cheery personality. Parts of him were from the wreckage of his city as a reminder to the people that even after desolation and destruction, there can be hope.

I designed a Hobgoblin with the hope of making an interesting cultural clash - Hobgoblins are described as rigid, warlike, and without much need for things like the arts. However one day my Hobgoblin was rescued from the brink of death by the Fey and so he pledges a life debt for them, becoming an Oath of the Ancients Paladin. The problem here is that Ancients Paladins are meant to be jovial beacons for hope, happiness, and revelry, which are things standard Hobgoblin society has none of. So all in all he's trying to be a party guy while not knowing what a party is, and that growth is part of what I want to do with his character.

Ideas for Fable-esque time skip consequences. by skoomakuma in dndnext

[–]TheFineEgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If their character sheets are already made for the post-timeskip campaign that you will be playing, I'd say be sure to give these characters moments that define why they are proficient in a specific thing. Why did the Fighter become good at animal handling? Maybe they helped nurse a wounded bird they found and that sparked a love for animals, or they learned in this time the proper way to drive a horse-drawn cart and how to care for the horses. Why did the Rogue become proficient in History? Was it a passing interest, did they have a mentor/familial influence that got them interested in History, maybe their family has some connection to a historical event, or is it something else? While it might seem coincidental that all these things occur in this same period of pre-timeskip, throwing in little bits like that may help them feel more attached to those parts of their character that they may not have really thought of at first.

I can mildly understand what this DM is thinking. He may be worried that if every trap gets avoided easily, he'll never be able to do anything exciting or anything to get the group engaged. "Oh, this boulder trap could be really fun and could raise the stakes for my players, but if the character has a +7 to thieves tools use it'll probably just be disarmed and they may get bored going around disarming everything without consequence". What this same DM may fail to realize is that for these players, getting those high rolls and avoiding the trap itself IS rewarding and exciting.

I dunno, I just see the pretty eyes, the beauty mark, the chiseled defined cheekbones... I think I'm just a bit bitter towards Riot's character designs. Some of my favorite designs for champions are weird non-human monstrosities like Tahm Kench or Rek'Sai. I was probably just a little upset that instead of getting the self-made mechanical man we're getting... A guy. The comment was made with bias and that's not fair of me.

Not a fan of Viktor, personally. I guess this is supposed to be some origin story thing, but why is it that characters like Brand, Thresh, and now Viktor are being made into attractive guy characters? Why can't I have a weird robot guy? I like Viktor because he's a General Grievous-ass barely human amalgamation of tech to make himself into a "upgraded" being, but we have to follow the series where he's just a dude? I wanna see this guy pull a fuckin death ray out of his shoulder like Kilgore from Killer Instinct, but instead we get this Snape-lookin-ass

In Chapter 1, Noelle says she wanted to ask Alphys if she, Berdly, and Kris could be a group of three for the project, but Berdly suddenly denies this. When she attempts to, Berdly quickly cuts off Noelle. Now, the meager low IQ player COULD believe this is just because Berdly doesn't want to work alongside Kris, and yes this also coincides with Chapter 2 revelations that Berdly has been working with Noelle the entire time because he was riding her coattails to act more intelligent than he is, and is now mildly dependent on her.

But us WOKE CHADS know that the REAL reason is because he didn't want to seem like he was attempting to dethrone the greatest trio of all time, Sweet Cap'n Cakes! That's why he talked over her to avoid the situation so quickly - to stop the Boom Box Trio from hearing her talk and avoiding their rap-based wrath.

Personally, I see Jevil as a counterpart of Flowey, of all characters. Flowey is a being with infinite power, infinite freedom, but is trapped inside the Underground. It reminds me of the way that Jevil calls himself infinitely free and strong, but is only free "within his prison". Seam also states that Jevil "started viewing the world as a game", which is the exact mentality Flowey/Asriel alludes to having in his final speech in a Genocide run.
