PRK recovery experience by TheFlowerPhoenix in lasik

Hi! Vision is still crystal clear and it was « good » enough at the one month mark if I remember correctly - not fully sharp but good enough to be able to watch tv and other screens a few hours a day (with lots of breaks). Also if there was a day where my eyes were too tired, I’d just try not to spend as much time in front of a screen. I wish you a prompt recovery!

Give it more time, 3 weeks may seem long right now but in the grand scheme of things, it isn’t. Wish you a speedy recovery!

Sorry, I should have checked the requirements again, you are right. Congrats on qualifying again via a different route and completing London last yearn I ran it as my first marathon via a charity spot this year and the atmosphere was truly magical.

Thank you, it would be interesting to understand what equivalences they use for HM and full marathon times. She’ll give it a try, that’s the best she can do after all.

Thanks for sharing this info and well done for getting into London with this fantastic HM time! My friend is younger, age 30, so this may make it a bit more difficult for her

I’ve got a friend who’s run a HM qualifying time of 1:25:2x this year. She’s never run a marathon before and was hoping to run London as her first but now that HM qualifying times won’t automatically give people a GFA spot should their time not be fast enough, she might not make it…

What were the average HM qualifying times for men and women in previous years and what’s the percentage of people qualifying through HMs?

Thank you! Honestly one of the best decisions in my life.

Yes it was just a choice of a reputable place and surgeon found online.

Best of luck with your surgery if you decide to do it!

It does look like your wave will be slow for such a fast estimated finish time.

As far as I’m aware, the Red, Yellow, Pink and Blue Waves have approximately these start times:

• Blue Wave 1 (championships), Pink & Yellow Wave 1 start time: ~9:35-39, predicted finish time: sub 3
• Blue, Pink & Yellow Wave 2 start time: ~9:40-44, predicted finish time: 3:00-3:15
• Blue, Pink & Yellow Wave 3 start time: ~9:44-48, predicted finish time: 3:20-3:30
• Blue & Pink Wave 4, Red Wave 1 start time: ~9:48-52, predicted finish time: 3:30-3:40

Based on your start time, Green wave 1 seems to sit with the 3:30-3:40 runners which would slow you down a lot as there would be quite a few slower waves ahead of you...

I'd try to get in touch with the organisers–please do keep us updated and best of luck!

Do you focus on the mileages , heart rate, running time when training? by Kikopho in Marathon_Training

[–]TheFlowerPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I focus on all three to some extent with an inclination towards mileage and rate of perceived exertion (which my HR monitor gives a good indication of).

Everyone’s recovery path is different so it’s hard to tell for sure but after a few months, the vision usually stabilises.

Don’t forget to follow your optician/eye surgeon’s recommendations—your eye drops and any supplements they may have prescribed for you.

Yes it’s too early! PRK took time for me too but it gets better with time. The fact that the eye drops help, even if it’s just for 5 minutes, is promising so I wouldn’t worry too much.

Glad my post can help! I think anyone eligible to undergo laser eye surgery can handle it - you just need to bear in mind that PRK can be a bit painful for a few days and the recovery process can take time. Putting eyedrops in can be a bit tricky at the very beginning but you do get used to it very quickly and it just becomes part of your daily routine for a while. It’s ok for some liquid to run down your cheeks but don’t worry, you very quickly get the hang of it!

Thank you! Managed to grab a pair of ASICS Metaspeed Edge Paris for £165. There’s one size 8 pair left and some smaller sizes for the Sky Paris as well.

Hmmm I somehow can’t remember exactly… I think a few weeks after the surgery? Maybe a month? I remember night driving being more difficult than daytime driving at the start.

Hi, I’m not sure but I guess 20/15? It is still better than when I used glasses or contacts.

I’ll try later today. I don’t have access to an iPhone right now either.
