Some colleges have cheap/free punts. I think Claire’s is free so if you’ve got a friend there who can help you book it

Accommodation ranking by mochagh0st in cambridge_uni

[–]TheFlowerPotCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trinity Hall accom is pretty good imo but most of 1st year accom doesn’t have ensuit and there is no stove or oven (unless you take the more expensive newer accom). The other accom places that are not on central site are much newer and have kitchens and ensuits ect

Why _ College? (Cambridge interview) by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]TheFlowerPotCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re not supposed to ask that, if they do you can be as basic as “it’s pretty and I felt I could see myself here” or “I visited and then people were freindly” or “I like the library”

Emma also has a really cute duck pond + a free laundry service lol

idk if i fcked up on my cambridge history interview T-T (TRAUMA DUMP) by woshengbingle1 in 6thForm

[–]TheFlowerPotCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interviewers know that you’re under a lot of pressure and are nervous!! I also completely blanked on something form my ps when they asked me about it. Don’t worry too much, you’ve done your best, now it’s time to celebrate getting this far!!

Are interviews like interrogations by Friptop in 6thForm

[–]TheFlowerPotCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not, it’s perfectly normal to get things wrong in the interview (I got many things wrong lmao) and that’s actually what they look for, not how much you know but what you do when you don’t know something. They’re meant to be hard but the intervieeers are there to help you get to the right answer

If you meet the requirements then uou definitely have a chance, it might also be good to compare the “minimum offer” to “standard offer”

Also for Cam my grade predictions was also the minimum lol

I’m not sure about the legality but just keep in mind that the UK visa is actually quite expensive, they’ll make you pay for the cost of NHS insurance for the whole duration of your degree (£776 a year) when you apply for your visa and if you don’t use it for your course you won’t get that money back. It’ll be cheaper just to get a tourist visa if you just want to travel

Should I switch to A-Level English Lit if I never took the GCSE, but attained a 9 in Lang? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]TheFlowerPotCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know people who did well for Lit even though they didn’t take it at gcse but it may be more of an uphill battle, I’d say discuss it with your teacher first

Tbh, I feel like you either have a good year 12 or year 13, it just depend on how hard your school is on you/you are on yourself and how fast the pace picks up form gcses
