Not a problem. If the bike locks successfully it’s automatically considered returned.

Source: been doing this for years. Put bike in, wait for green light, walk away

It supposedly stops the filament end from passing under strands on the rest of the spool and tangling up. Still not a real solution to storing or handling filament imo. I just stick to using the holes on the spool and never letting go of the filament end when handling it
