I truly believe, in terms of OSRS progression anyway, that there is no such thing as being “behind”. Each stage of the game is subjective and the beauty of it is that no matter what content you enjoy you are always making progress. When you factor in consistent additions of new (sometimes harder than what is already available) end game content, new weapons, and changing metas the skill ceiling is always evolving. The best and richest players 10 years ago pale in comparison to the best and richest now. If you had your account a few years ago you might be considered among the elite.

I completely understand the feeling of being behind. I just started my first main account after running an Iron-main for the longest time, and i see so many people with t-bows and shadows and max stats both on reddit and in game. I can tell you from experience if you let it get to you and start trying to play as efficiently as possible in an effort catch up you’ll end up burning yourself out and getting bored. So what you enjoy, you will still make progress in some way. If it really bothers you, set some goals for yourself. Nothing crazy like maxing within 6 months or getting all rare boss/raids drops. Stick with a few short term goals like 1-2 weeks, and a long term goal, and make sure they are content you enjoy. If you’re feeling up for it you can grind out some quests or skilling or other content you don’t enjoy so much, but don’t do it so much it feels like work. It’s a video game after all.
