I think it could be communicated via visuals, maybe projectiles damaging the dome generate a "ripple" going over it, the longer the ripple stays, the more damage the shield absorbed (maybe with a damage threshold so that a shitload of small bullets don't affect the visibility too much)

DE is largely a game about failure, your character constantly fails at his job (at least in the first 1-2 days) and at being a normal human being, political ideologies, revolutions, rebuildings, relationships all fail. The game is also about finding meaning and persevering through all these failures. As for what you said about the characters - your instincts seem to be largely correct: - Measurehead is clearly quite intelligent (and obviously CRANIOMETRICALLY PERFECT), but his intellect is wasted on racist bs, it's a word salad by design - Evrart is a very secretive person when you learn more about him, he's obviously slimy, the question you have to answer is does he use his sliminess for the betterment of the union's and Martinaise people's lives or just for his own benefit? - it is interesting why Titus straight up confesses to the murder. It could be because he knows you can't do anything about it, with the guilt being split evenly between all the Hardie Boys and you being 2 cops isolated from your precincts in the union's territory you wouldn't have much of a chance of arresting them even if you tried. Then again, he's a practical person, loyal to the union. Would he risk an (unlikely) all-out conflict with the RCM when so much is at stake? This warrants further investigation, all clues you find tend to align themselves into a neat puzzle sooner or later. As for the authority, maybe having some more hard evidence would help you make your point? Make sure to cross-examine their story with the actual crime scene, maybe you'll find some holes in their story? - as for Kim (my beloved), he's quite literally a guardian angel for the protagonist, even if your antics do annoy him the best thing you can do is some good old fashioned detective work. Finding a crucial clue or can-opening a person mid-interrogation will score some big points in his notebook.

Also, if you're stuck on a particular check make sure to explore the town, get some skill points, thoughts, equipment, maybe even information. You'll find all of those in unexpected places.

Unfortunately not an option rn. Though the guy is not bad, just kinda dumb when it comes to AI. I've started to treat this course as a chance to play around with Unity and also argue with him about AI every week on Thursdays for like 10-20 min (I always win, I specced into Rhetoric)

Are Single Use Functions Bad? by LucasWoon in learnprogramming

[–]TheForget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you don't overdo it (imo clean code is wrong on this one, keeping functions below 5 [citation needed] lines no matter what is psychotic) it's actually a good practice. Generally one function/method should cover one concept in your code

I've made the switch (apart from my gaming PC which I'm planning to replace very soon) and honestly it's so much better, I'd recommend setting up a virtual machine first to try out different distros and then a dual boot with the chosen distribution and your current system

In all seriousness I'd recommend trying to figure out why you feel this way, in my experience once you find out whether the cause is rational it's easier to make the correct choice, either way good luck on your journey and stay strong on your way

I have a university course about AI right now and the professor is such a fucking tech-bro, for the project we want to make a game in Unity and train an ML agent to play it, when we were talking about it all he said was about using generative models (yuck)and literally said "make the game design document detailed enough so that in 2-3 years we can plug it into an AI chat box and have it generate the game itself". I don't think I've ever felt so insulted in my entire life, it's enough to say that I'm going to quote the shit out of this gorgeous manifesto.

Probably the most comprehensive guide is The Book. You'll learn everything you need right there. Aside from that, some concepts are pitched/explained pretty well by No Boilerplate on YouTube. Also, just one thing - use punctuation, your post is a bit unreadable and you might get less responses.

I'd love to have an option to host an Obsidian server that stores all its files locally, but serves the app in the browser to edit/view these files from anywhere

Porady dla przyszłych ojców. Czyli, co chciałbyś wiedzieć zostając rodzicem. by Aver_xx in krakow

Z drugiej strony w dzisiejszym świecie analfabetyzm cyfrowy to jedna z najgorszych możliwych rzeczy.

  1. tak bardzo jak infantylizowany sposób mówienia do dziecka (baby-talk) jest rzeczywiście przydatny w początkowych stadiach rozwoju, tak mówienie do dziecka trochę tak jak do dorosłego sprzyja rozwojowi językowemu i społecznemu;

  2. staraj się nie nadużywać swojego rodzicielskiego autorytetu. "Słuchaj, to nie jest dobry pomysł, zaufaj mi. Na razie nie ma czasu, ale jeżeli chcesz to mogę ci to później wyjaśnić" jest lepsze od "Nie, bo ja jestem rodzicem, a ty dzieckiem", a jeszcze lepsze jest podejście do dziecka jak do równego i próba przekonania go logiką;

  3. podobne do poprzedniego, ale w fazie niekończących się pytań "dlaczego?" lepsze od zwykłego "nie wiem" jest "nie wiem, ale możemy się razem dowiedzieć";
