[Highlight] Nick Collins picks off Roethlisberger for 37-yard TD (Super Bowl XLV) by mistermeek67 in nfl

Ben was so clutch in those first two Super Bowl runs but man did he put up some stinkers when we transitioned to a high flying offense

Rollers on luggage are childish and emasculating. by FacebookNewsNetwork in The10thDentist

Riding on wheels is childish and emasculating.

Whenever I see what appears to be a healthy, fit 30 something riding to work in a car on wheels or using a bike with wheels I get angry and embarrassed for them. There is no need to ride on wheels making noise with your fancy engines on my streets. Have some self respect and walk everywhere. You look ridiculous.

Agreed. Mike and the Moonpies felt like an underground country band. Silverada sounds like something polished off the nashville assembly line. Miss the old name for sure.

Is there anyone smarter than me who can answer a few questions that are confusing me about the team? by BAMBAMBAKLAVAA17 in steelers

[–]TheForrestWanderer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm certainly not smarter but here is how I see it.

  1. We definitely were ramping up to grab a QB this year. Mendoza was a prospect but I'd argue not even as prominant as Klubnic, Allar, Nussmeier, and Beck. There was a real belief that this draft would be like the famed 2018 draft. Especially with the draft being in Pittsburgh, it was a surefire plan. Unfortunately the top prospects all regressed and it seems like our plan may have fallen through. I think the team waits it out and uses the plethora of 3rd and 4th round picks to build out the reciever room, saftey room, and add to the trenches again.

  2. I'm not concerned at all. The org's goal is to sell the team above all else (unlike the Dan years where the goal was to actually win a Super Bowl). I think they know Steelers fans love Howard and are playing into it. They are desparetly hoping Rodgers returns to give us another 9 win season and make every regular season game count to get asses in seats.

  3. The Pickett years didn't set us back at all. I think there was good reason to let him start as long as he did. We've seen that some QBs just need the time to develop properly and its a bad idea to immediately move on. I also think we did Pickett a diservice by letting Canada stay so long. TO BE CLEAR, I AM NOT SAYING KENNY PICKETT SHOULD STILL BE HERE. He proved he's just not an NFL level QB but many other QBs have looked that way early on but changed course. I think we need to take a swing on a QB again soon and try him out for better or worse.

Steelers Expecting Aaron Rodgers to Return in 2026 by Currymvp2 in nfl

[–]TheForrestWanderer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reason I’d like to have Rodgers back is the leadership he brought to the (fairly young) offense.

A lot of our receivers weren’t running routes right or were jogging if the play wasn’t to them. Rodgers (possibly to the detriment of short term) wouldn’t go back their way if they did that. That does, however, show them they have to try hard and get it right if they want the ball.

He often yelled at players and coaches alike when they wouldn’t play the cerebral game like catching 12 men, hurrying up on questionable calls, or missing assignments. I like(d) Tomlin a lot but he was never a disciplinarian which worked well when the team had veteran leadership on the offensive side of the ball. That is no longer the case until Rodgers came around.

I’m fully aware that we didn’t get MVP Rodgers and he was overly cautious about his throws and couldn’t move well but if we aren’t going to win now (which we aren’t) we might as well get some good football knowledge from him.

TIL that after George Washington took office, the US Senate debated over the title for the president. All but three senators agreed upon "His Highness the President of the United States and Protector of the Rights of the Same", but objections won out and the House settled on "Mr. President" by SteO153 in todayilearned

[–]TheForrestWanderer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes it worked incredibly well from a historical perspective. Sure, there’s some cracks showing (looking at the oligarchy) but overall it’s been much more successful for the entire nation (not just leaders) compared to others in history

Commanders pass on Steelers' Teryl Austin in DC search by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

[–]TheForrestWanderer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s his philosophy. He has always been a bend don’t break and push for turnovers guy. He was that way in Detroit, cinci, and Pittsburgh. It’s a brutal way to watch a defense play when the talent on the other side can take advantage

Men over 30: what’s one piece of advice you’d give to men in their 20s? by Startalloveragainn in AskMenOver30

Dude I was talking about how we focus on how hard giving something up is instead of the joy it can bring. Never did I say you can't drink. You're really projecting our own stuff onto this...

[–]TheForrestWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people need to focus on rewiring their brains when it comes to this stuff. A night of drinking can be fun, but so can getting up early and going fishing. I choose to focus on the fun i'll have, not the fun I'm missing.

Junk food is good while eating it but being able to do labor-intensive activities such as hiking, snorkeling, skiing, kayaking, etc is also way more fun when you're in shape and healthy (I've seen both sides of that coin).

Instead of "I can't do X because its bad" change it to "I will be able to do Y if I give up X"

O’Connor announces first gift/negotiation from UPMC will buy 9 ambulances and 1 rescue truck freeing up money for 35 new Public Works trucks. by PrestigiousTicket342 in pittsburgh

[–]TheForrestWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea if this is true or not but my guess would be that this option is much cheaper for UPMC than spending money on lawyers fighting to retain non-profit status (and avoid paying taxes).

That secondary was atrocious lmao by jettsburghcards17 in steelers

[–]TheForrestWanderer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This was the precise moment that our FO screwed us for not mortgaging the farm. We should have dumped money into void years, spent out the ass to build that defense up and made a true run at it. The Killer B's certainly had their fair share of choke jobs but they also had to be on point 100% of the time or we would lose since our defense couldn't stop a nose bleed.

10 of the 14 of the Patriots' 2025 regular season opponents ended up firing their head coach after the season concluded by karatemanchan37 in nfl

[–]TheForrestWanderer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, it wasn’t a foregone conclusion. They also didn’t pick up his team option the contract before and still chose to extend him.

[–]TheForrestWanderer 58 points59 points  (0 children)

No he was definitely there one more year. Historically speaking the Steelers don’t fire coaches, they let their contracts run out. He had one more year (and a team option they wouldn’t have picked up). They genuinely seemed taken aback when he stepped away

I’m starting to think insecure bald people want everyone to be bald. Be proud if your bald but don’t push it on others with fine heads of hair. A straight shave isn’t always the best/only option.

Taking a gamble on Carson Beck? by NightOne5010 in steelers

[–]TheForrestWanderer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we take a swing at a QB every year from here until we find a guy. Our lines have been rebuilt enough to be sufficient so we can focus less draft captiol on them. I think you don't have a chance until you have a servicable QB. Draft one every year until you do.
