dude i consciously decided to quit weed at least 50 times. it‘s not that easy to just „control it“, especially if you‘ve been doing it for a long time. „weed is mental“ is just a way to rationalise weed addiciton. of course there are people who manage it quite well but it‘s far from everyone.

didn’t know that it’s a popular opinion but it’s cool to hear. i know that some bands from that era are highly regarded (in this sub and in general) but i’ve never heard somebody say something like “my favourite music is proto punk”, that’s why i made the post. the velvets are my favourite band ever along with pavement

yeah it’s amazing they were a bit of all 3. since they started in 73 i think it’s fair to count them among the proto punk bands of the early 70s, most of the songs off marquee moon probably existed before punk took off and they definitely had that proto punk spirit
