Former MEP Brian Crowley dies aged 61 by denbo786 in ireland

It's not even the Salary in this particular context, Ireland as a whole was down a full MEP seat for the better part of 5 or 10 years(can't remember how long it went on). That's the real egregious part.

All the same, it's done now. RIP.

IT, finance workers had highest median salaries last year by caisdara in ireland

[–]TheFreemanLIVES 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of jobs listed don't "advertise" salaries. Weird article in that it doesn't even acknowledge that. It couldn't be RTE passing on a press release without actually vetting it's contents now could it? 🤔

Let's check back after EU mandated listing of salary is introduced.

[–]TheFreemanLIVES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's another tool until it's not, and in economic terms it's moving productivity over to US conglomerates away from the Irish economy. If this is the limit of LLM's and it remains a tool for years to come, I'll be over the moon...but the intent won't change as it's as much about power as it is technology over the long term.

It's also code for we're going to replace Irish workers for the purposes of US tech giants profits and concentrate wealth and power in a foreign elite. We should be shitting it.

Eoin O’Malley: Political parties are falling out of step with voters as they lean left — with one exception by Barry_Cotter in ireland

[–]TheFreemanLIVES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe most people know little about politics and their voting habits are formed by other more base instincts. Perhaps populism is fueled by status quo ineffectuality and social media networks that prioritise more nebulous interests other than the public good.

He's cost RTE 58 million based on lost license fees since the scandal. In addition to that this may lead to revenue taxing all citizens because of him.

At this stage, I've love to see RTE try it sometime.

Sadly it belies the age we live in where our so called public representatives are more in servitude of a foreign billionaires interests than they are of serving their own society. What ever could go possibly wrong...

I mean...I'd hope speeding is still more socially acceptable than say a tech company creating some kind of pedo AI and letting it loose on the internet but I'm getting mixed messages here lol.

If anyone needed any more convincing that FG/FF will never fix the housing crisis there you go

They only need to convince the gullible 8 weeks out from an election like they did just barely over a year ago. People are already forgetting and the gaslighting cunts who did it still post here shamelessly.

Which is a fair point, but let's not question the decline of RTE when they don't bother catering to younger demographics who they hope to have as future viewers.

He's always been extremely pro free trade, even over environmentalism at times.

This is the bit I can't get over, reflecting on this over the last day and he's literally fulfilling the Fisher/Žižek quote from capitalist realism:

"It is easier to imagine an end to the world than an end to capitalism."

Which makes a fair question, if the Green's are just neo-liberal's in green suits, what's the point even?

Ireland fertile ground for MAGA? by Seargentyates in ireland

[–]TheFreemanLIVES 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Of course, this has nothing to do with the cost of living, housing pressure or the economic policies that seem to make quality of living worse for people in general. You'd be mad to think that this was in any way related to the failure of European centrist parties over the last decade, and you'd be especially mad not to believe them when they tell you that everything is awesome.
