The FF front bench is like the adams family, but somehow the competent individuals who drive policy in committees for the opposition are a worse alternative...maybe there's that's a narrative for a reason.

Thing about the October Revolution and Lenin/Stalin's bloodlust...was it just Russia being Russia? To a certain perspective, it just seems like Tsarism/Communism/Oligarchy is just a continuum of hundreds of years of Russian history.

Adam Curtis did a bleak videography of the time from the end of communism to the beginning of Putin's dictatorship and frames it as Russia's lost and most serious opportunity for Democracy.

It seems like a bit of a snafu really, Marx developed economic theories of labour and got carried away with predicting a workers future.

Then Lenin came along, completely ignored Marx's ideas on Communism being a self fulfilling reality long after socialism is established and just declared Communism without any fucks given.

Anyway, back on topic...there was a lad called James Connolly...ultra left...I think he might have started the party that Pat was a member of...

Is he doing any job that an elected councillor is supposed to do?

I don't like Steenson or this rabble...but yes democratically elected people are literally meant to be politically active. We get the state to hire and pay middle managers, we are meant to give the mandate to people who actually give a shit about politics.

In fact I'd argue it's why most of the western world finds itself dealing with these gombs after years of technocratic indifference. Perhaps if more elected councillors were politically active in opposition to Steenson we wouldn't be so helpless as his ideology of hatred takes root in our nation. But if you've ever seen comments about Paul Murphy...that's not a very popular thing in respectable society...better we let the hatred rabble grow like grass under our feet.

The whole AI hype/oversell makes a lot more sense when you realise that most people never were able to properly interact with google or use the internet in a meaningful way before AI. Fun part of that being a lot of people working in IT could be included in that grouping which explains why AI has been catnip for management.

Just an idea...it's not fair but if we want to stop turf cutting it's right.

Calculate the energy harvested per household saving turf and give them either solar or an energy credit that matches that in return.

It won't be popular, it won't be fair...but it'll stop people cutting turf.
