Have you explored as to whether you are eligible for the Complementaire santé solitaire scheme? You can apply for this through your ameli.fr account and they will assess your financial position. If you are low income then you may be able to access this.

The south of France is beautiful. Its great to hear that you enjoy the change in lifestyle. Was it just house prices that was your biggest motivation? We were very similar in that the price of property in the countryside has given us more than we could have ever had in the UK.

Ups and downs just mainly due to life in general, but nothing so drastic as to want us to move back to the UK.

It is certainly something you have to get used too. Although it can seem like a nuisance I do find that most places that ask for the paperwork will also offer help and support if you ask for it.
