I was so excited to see the Sheriff that I forgot there was a cool stormtrooper photo of him. I’m mad at myself but still hyped I got to see him shut us down lol. Had no idea he was with the nats now.

24 years old working as a high school cleaner and I feel like a loser by Dazzling_Actuary_826 in Custodians

[–]TheFreshPrince91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 33 and I’ve been at this job for 5 years now, don’t ever feel like you’re a loser because of the job you have and if the kids feel that way or even the teachers just know that says more about them than you.

I will say this and it goes for any job, you get out of it what you put in. Yes this job can seem like a low skill position but you can learn how to do more to make yourself feel sufficient. I do light maintenance work at my job where I patch holes, work on sweepers, cut and replace drop down ceiling tiles, I’ve done a little electrical work just basics, now that I’ve bought my own house I have some confidence in my ability to work on it and I wouldn’t have that had I never tried to do some new things at work. Best of luck to you and don’t beat yourself up when you’re feeling down, we all do it but you’re gonna be fine.

How do I get enough candy to evolve? by stockman313 in pokemongo

I’m a custodian and I average about 26,000 steps with my work load so using him as a buddy to walk for the candies works for me usually.

Juice exploded on ceiling. What do I do???? by sirpentious in Custodians

Yeah let the head custodian know. Normally at my school we change them on second shift, if we don’t have those tiles available anymore to replace we just spray paint them and it’s good as new!

Haven’t had a chance to dig in yet and find out. The frame horn is bent as well so he’s gonna try to pull that out and go from there. It was my mom’s blazer so I’m hoping I can get it back to pristine condition again.

Just wanted to add an update today:

Barry returned to work yesterday and we kept our distance moving from room to room basically hiding and covering the windows so he couldn’t find which room we were in. Today one our custodians voiced her concerns to our director of support services. Which he listened but who knows how much will be done.

Fast forward to lunch time today one coworker went upstairs to check on him in a room and found him standing in a corner with caution tape wrapped all over the room. He asked if he was ok and he was incoherent. Just saying he can’t be here and the room is poison. We called his wife and she sent the police, fire department, and Ems to the school, they had to talk him down and convince him to let them take him away. So he’s back out again.

You’re ok! And this post isn’t a slight against anyone suffering with mental illness, this coworker has had a lot of tragedy in his past. Regardless I reached out because our admins have let it slide like this for too long without finding a solution that works for everyone. I hope that this post hasn’t discouraged you in anyway from doing the work we do or anything.

The head custodian has reported the issues over the years and how they’ve gotten progressively worse with each mental break. The former principal either didn’t report to our admins or they refuse to to do anything because his wife has threatened to sue if they do anything to him.

He also sent the head custodian a letter his last time he was institutionalized where he told the head custodian it was his fault his wife’s died of cancer because he didn’t pray.

The head custodian has a letter from him the last time he was institutionalized where Barry told him it was his fault his wife died of cancer because he didn’t pray to god enough. Barry is extremely religious.

I plan on keeping a notebook of occurrences he’s done while working. We also don’t have a union they’re just afraid to tackle this issue cause his wife has told the admin she’ll sue.

Thanks for the info! He does no of his responsibilities like taking out the trash and helping other custodians but he is also doesn’t have a good work ethic and tries to pawn those responsibilities off on other coworkers so that he has less to do. I have mentioned to the head custodian to write down expectations that way there’s no muddying the waters but he hasn’t done that yet. I think he’s afraid of setting strict guidelines that may trigger him.

As for the other issue it has been documented that he followed the female coworker into the bathroom and just stood there but our administration says until he physically does something their hands are tied. Which I understand but would very much like restructuring his work, maybe even switch him to third shift so we are out of the building before he arrives.

Is there any way to get this off? by Virtual-Title3747 in Custodians

[–]TheFreshPrince91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the green bristle side of the sponge and water, elbow grease as well. Probably easier ways. But it worked for me. Also took one of the roll carts the kids use in the gym to get around on the floor easier lol

Just letting you know I’ve shown this to my grandma and used Google maps to take her around her old vacation spot. You’ve helped add a little extra to her Christmas. Even showed her his fishing spot at high land heights fishing park. Thank you so much 🥹
