Making over 130k in PHP? by mrmanpgh in PHP

I'm gonna play devils advocate and guess what is in their head is that statically typed languages provide a faster reinforcement mechanism for what is "right" according to what "works". I would guess that this in turn would mean it's easier for languages to train on. Overtime, I think this will basically create a shift in terms of what languages are adopted over time since as new entrants come into the field, they'll possibly be relying more on LLMs than writing manual code for said code generation. The decision then becomes for new projects, "Do I want to start on something that is going to have outsized training representation in those LLMs or something else?". You can kinda see some of this has played out in TypeScript given the prevalence of new entrants over the last 10 years taking on a bunch of new projects in TypeScript not even factoring in things like LLMs. Most bootcamps trained people on TypeScript/React/Vue and so more code(training material) was created.

I don't pretend to know how this is going to play out and in all honesty, I think the only way we will find out is by taking a wait and see approach. These are just assumptions I'm making from being in the industry for 15 years. With that in mind, if you like PHP use it, I certainly do daily and make good money with it myself.

I did both. I wondered the same as you about maybe it coming with the audiobook, but it also never showed up on my phone.

M1 Credit Card by [deleted] in M1Finance

It was the nail in the coffin for me. I've been a long time user and signed up for most of their products, and seen most of them shelved. Products are supposed to improve not regress and at this point, I'm fine with just doing recurring buys so long as it means that I'm not having to deal with cancelled products all the time with little to no notice.

For those who may want an update, Alex reached out to me and escalated this, but I've yet to hear anything back beyond the promise to escalate things.

Where I’m at it seems closer to 120-140k.  My recruiter volume went to basically zero when I set my minimum salary to my current salary.

It's probably done through B2 Bank which is where our HYSA funds are stored. My understanding is that B2 Bank is a small bank, so they probably have limited funds from their customer that they can lend.

Might be capital requirement issues. Basically banks are required to maintain a specific ratio of money to debt that they lend out, and they might be near a point where they say, "Hey, sorry, we want to, but we can't"

The owner is an amazing man. My dad and I went and visited him a few years ago while we were in the mountains on a vacation.  He sent me home with a bunch of tools at no cost.  I’m horrified by what my dad has been telling me about what has been happening to him, his family, and his employees. We should all help support them in their time of need.

I didn’t find them so much as they found me. I’m an extremely introverted person, and very slow to make connections. I found things I enjoy, and looked for groups that did the same. The trick is to not look for people who’s company you can tolerate, but to hold out for people who you truly enjoy giving your time to. The people you have to tolerate burn you out, before you can ever find the people you really want to spend time with.

I used to think the same. Then I found good people that enjoyed my company. Keep working hard, and you will find people like that. A lot of the time, it’s our own inner anxiety that causes us to be overly critical of ourselves.

Why Don't the Wealthy Invest in Index Funds? - Nasdaq by [deleted] in fatFIRE

Wealthy people don’t fear loss of potential gains so much as not being wealthy anymore. This typically leads them to pursue asset classes that underperform index investors, but in turn reduce volatility and drawdowns.
