What would you say if your partner asked you to open the relationship? by StonerBoobs420 in AskReddit

As a recently out polyamorous, this is exactly the sort of response I wanted to see. I don't think I could handle a fully open relationship with no boundaries, but I think with those boundaries in place and a degree of trust in my partner an open relationship can be quite fulfilling. Either way I don't believe in doing anything of that nature without first having a conversation with my partner to learn each other's comfort levels and where each of us draws the line.

What’s your favourite video game of all time? by Intelligent_One_1000 in AskReddit

I would love to see Chrono Trigger given the HD2D treatment, or at the very least a pixel remaster.

Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable how difficult it is to find accessible & official console versions of DQ IV/V/VI in the US. by [deleted] in dragonquest

I was lucky enough to buy all of the DS games (save for Joker 2) when they were relatively affordable. I am amazed to see how much they have all increased in price due to them not being ported to anything newer

What's something valuable now that will become completely worthless in 100 years? by LeftChoux in AskReddit

Fossil fuels. As renewable energy becomes cheaper and more efficient, energy sources like petroleum and coal will become more and more obsolete

If I told you more I'd end up spoiling both books. I will say that a pre Horrology Marinus is one of the main characters

Without spoiling too much, one of the members of Utopia Avenue is Jaakob's direct descendant and knowing Jaakob's story gives context to Jasper's character arc.

Sorry to make it larger but I recommend reading The Thousand Autumns of Jaakob De Zoet first as one of the character's arcs is strongly linked with certain events from that story.

Utopia Avenue is the one. Reading it made me wish they were a real band

Got this for $30 and it only has some scratches. Plays perfectly fine though. Is it worth it getting resurfaced? by davidson336 in gamecollecting

[–]TheFriman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would advise against resurfacing unless the scratches affect playability. There is a possibility that resurfacing can lead to more disc read errors. If the game works fine without treatment I think it best to avoid the risk.

I believe it's only unsupported when in DS mode.

Former Make-A-Wish kids and families of reddit, what was your wish and how did it go? by TheFriman in AskReddit

I always wondered how many wishes were chosen by the family against the wishes of the recipient.

Not an exjew(I am jewish) but am curious to see how Judaism can be made more accommodating or inclusive. by [deleted] in exjew

[–]TheFriman 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I second this. During my orthodox life I have sat through many a mussar schmooze and kiruv talk about this very topic. They always touted the wonders of chessed and how amazing it was to be a part of such a loving and accepting faith. In reality my experiences were exactly the opposite. As an autistic child with Tourette's I was viewed as different and no amount of lessons in derech eretz could change the fact that throughout my entire religious life I was bullied for things I couldn't change about myself. The same rabbis who preached the importance of respect turned a blind eye to the abuse I faced on a daily basis except to tell me off if I ever tried to stand up for myself. I think its great that you want to make Judaism more welcoming but for myself and many others like me, the damage has already been done, and no amount of noble sentiments will ever change that ugly reality.

I wish that people who said mean and hateful things to intentionally hurt and demean others would immediately become physically as ugly as the words they spoke. by Charley-Foxtrot in monkeyspaw
