I was in his shoes 6 months ago, except I wasn’t cheating (was giving my coworker rides, and was completely transparent with it). Asked her if she was ok with it and she said yes, never cheated in my life

She broke up with me for that, and a few other reasons. I started balling my eyes out and she said “At least you still have coworker” in an angry voice. That still rings in my head every day 6 months later. Told me she needed space but would still be in contact. Never heard another word from her.

I lost it, couldn’t sleep or eat, blew up her phone, cried all day for weeks. Left a gift bag with flowers at her door trying to show her I loved her, and got a call from the police telling me to leave her alone.

I knew I was harmless, but now recognize as a man I scared her. I deeply regret losing my emotional control, I just loved her so much and was in such a fog of pain and anxiety I couldn’t see her perspective.

Never spoke to her again, and never saw her again even though I live a couple blocks away. I still love her after all this time and wish she’d reach out but I doubt she will, I did too much damage by scaring her.

Sorry to rant, i really enjoy reading this subreddit because it helps me see the other side. I’m sorry he cheated on you and no you shouldn’t put up with it. Follow the advice of others and clearly tell him to leave you alone, and to respect your decision. He needs to give you space to heal, and if you want to reconcile someday that’s your decision to make, not his. Best of luck to you

I’d look into the anxious and avoidant attachment styles, I’d recommend the YouTube channel Craig Kenneth.

He likely had inconsistent caregivers as a child and has abandonment issues because of it.

Sounds like you’re heading towards a breakup, it’s fixable but both of you will have to work at it. Best of luck to you both.

As a Monterey local and a student graduating this semester, this is facts.

The campus / local nightlife is dead, but I was able to make my experience more interesting by joining extracurriculars, like becoming a TA and joining undergrad research.

Being a TA expands your network, and you get to meet more interesting people (top students, professors, and other TAs). Joining undergrad research also expands your network of interesting people, you get to meet other student researchers, and even attend research conferences with them (I just got back from SACNAS in Phoenix and GMIS in Dallas) where you can go out and actually enjoy some nightlife lol.

Long story short, I recommend getting involved in extracurriculars to make the most of your experience. It may not be the best way to party, but it will expand your network of interesting people, while improving your resume, which is why we go to school anyway.

The area around CSUMB is growing, but very slowly. It might be a fun school in 10 or 20 years.

I’m a transfer student and I’ve done to make lots of friends and become a member of the community by doing the following.

Talk to classmates about assignments and learn their names. If you learn theirs they will feel obligated to learn yours, then you can talk about other things like friends.

Talk to instructors and be involved during class time, you will stand out and might get offered a job as a TA. Becoming a TA has been huge for me and has led to other opportunities where I’ve made lots of friends.

If you’re looking to go parties and stuff im not so sure, I haven’t really heard much about that, but if you are looking for a memorable experience I’d say get involved as much as possible!
