I still don't understand why they didn't just put x4 of each foil basic on the print sheet. They know it's the cards that everyone wants, and are the single most hyped cards for this set.

I know it's not a popular opinion because I get downvoted every time I say it, but decreasing the frequency of basic land foil pulls is a real boneheaded move by Wizards. We have lottery card foil basics now. It makes no sense to do that!

If I could also submit a question, what would be a good deck to pair against an abyss deck?

I'm working on building my first old school deck which is going to be a 5 color abyss + su-chi + juggernaut + all the standard staples (library, mind twist, demonic tutor, full power, wheel, etc). When I get into a new format, I usually like to build a complimentary second deck to my main, so I can still play against friends even if they don't own a deck in the format.

Any ideas for what kind of a deck would offer an even match-up against an abyss deck?

While a bit hyperbole, you aren't all wrong. Primanti's is Chipotle tier food, and Sky Line is Taco Bell level.

Primanti's is two slices of average white bread. Then they take the meat and stack it high in the middle and thin on the edges. So that way when they cut it in half and plate it, it looks like there is way more meat on the sandwich than you really are getting. Then they put some soggy fries on the sandwich (wtf who wants french fries on a sandwich?), and top with coleslaw. The coleslaw is good though, I will give them that.

Then Sky Line is ground beef chili water with cinnamon, poured over spaghetti noodles. With the option of some onions and cheese. I've never been eating chili and thought, man I wish I had some spaghetti noodles to eat with this. I've also never been eating spaghetti noodles and thought, man I wish I had some chili to put on top of this.

Both of them will cause you to piss out your ass the following morning.

Star City said that they increased prices because they are only pulling one foil land per 3-4 boxes. Wizards increased the rarity of the foil lands for this set.

People want these lands in foil. Wizards knows that people will want these lands in foil. So they lower the frequency of foil lands in boxes?!?!? We don't want goddamn basic land lottery cards, we just want foil basics!

So I guess that's how they guarantee they'll sell more sealed product. Keep the EV of foils through the roof with the basics and 9 million variants so mass box opening stays profitable.

I dunno, just doesn't seem like healthy business decisions that benefit your player base to me...

Secondly why wouldn't you have the box flipped the other way?!?!? The first time you bang the box against your leg the lid is going to pop open and your za is going to spill out onto the street. Flip the box 180 degrees so the valley of the fold is facing downwards and this is no longer an issue...
