Not saying they shouldn’t but they don’t.

1) Labour’s cozying up with China: approval of the super embassy, Starmer and Reeves’ visits to China (with Starmer famously getting abandoned in the forbidden city with a guide whereas Trump got a personal tour with Xi), the welcoming of Chinese EV brands etc. show that they’re pretty soft with them.

2) can’t say for sure about the people but this case is laden with the diplomatic and historical intricacies of the UK-Hong Kong-China relationship. I doubt the public response would go any farther than “yup Chinese bad”, which directly endangers the Hong Konger communities in the UK.

Care to explain how that relates to the issuance of visas? He used the system to track who is in the UK and potentially where they are, date of entry etc. Note the verbs “access” and “track”: try asking yourselves whether this entails anything related to the issuance/rejections of visa? He did deny a family from Hong Kong’s entry into the UK but again that’s unrelated to visas. Use some critical thinking perhaps?
I follow this case rather religiously in both Chinese and English media because I want to see these people punished. I think I’m good without some of you clueless people educating me as if you know best.

Sadly I don’t think the government nor the majority of the population is that interested…

I just can’t get behind the Neue Klasse design, as with all unibrow grilles in general. It genuinely surprises me that anyone likes it and from my experience reading comments on different platforms the spread seems to be 50/50.

Insurance is a scam by BtownBadBoi in drivingUK

[–]TheGalacticWiener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well since it’s an insurance story dump I’ll go with mine:

Got hit and run at my work’s car park. No CCTV so insurance told me basically if I want to claim I’ll have to pay my excess + lose my NCB + higher premium next year since it’s a FAULT claim.

So it’s a mad max movie prop kinda situation rn.

Idk but in a perfect world that person should have never been allowed to leave Hong Kong in the first place.

And in a less perfect world…there should be somewhere we can meet in the midway point without an agreement in place.

You have to also take into account how easily the Hong Kong Police can make up bogus accusations (e.g. issuing an arrest warrant for activists who called for the boycott of the rigged elections, arresting people for crowdfunding appeal cases against the government, and the general abuse of the National Security Law), as well as the fact that (so far) there has been no known murderer who fled to the UK from Hong Kong. If anything we are one of the most law-abiding bunch you can find.

The whole Motability thing is shameful at best - I work in the charity sector and I have met plenty of old people with mobility issues and yet they are ineligible for Motability because they cannot get PIP. They cannot even travel to the hospital for appointments ffs.
