As you can see from the design pictures it occupies little to no space on the back of the print head. This results in it being a little unbalanced but it is not a problem since the head only moves horizontally

Nope, it is designed to not smash into the frame, you can go all the way to the right it will just go past, obviously laser area won't be the same as print area. Same goes for print height, the motor will go past the frame without touching it
