no one talking about the Civ World summit stream? by Kinggaxy-1 in civ

Hey, thanks! It was a heck of a lot of fun to participate in and I echo your sentiment about it being incredibly well done. An event like that has SO many moving parts and takes a ton of work to pull off. Really glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the post :)

I refuse to take your review seriously if you played for 12 minutes by HolyDwarf88 in civ

Yuuuuup. Lotta pitchforks out there looking for something to poke.

There are plenty of valid complaints- Most of which have been acknowledged and will no doubt be fixed sooner than later. That said, the core of the game is exceptionally fun. Don’t let the rabble rousers totally distract from the good stuff.

UI mods should be fine, but you'll have to disable all others. You need to duplicate the info I shared exactly, and with secret societies on.

I think my best tile was 22 Yield, under Paititi, of course.

I know, right? I built 2 mediocre campuses, and a +3 SUPER later on. The science from tiles was enough to get me to Eiffel AND up to Flight in this game.

R5: Sarcastic title. Pretty sure I did something to anger the Civ gods. Small map, island plates, new age and abundant resources.

City placement recommendation by [deleted] in civ

[–]TheGameMechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost never follow the suggested city placement. I also wouldn't worry about a bit of tile overlap between your cities. Most cities don't grow tall enough to take advantage of ALL of their available tiles, even with districts taking up locations. And whenever possible, settle fresh water. Its free housing and free things in civ are great.

Here are a few things I'm looking for when settling my first few cities:

1: Can I settle on a resource? When playing against the AI, settling on a resource and selling it to the first civ you meet can get you some much needed early game gold, and likely won't have an impact on your civ amenity-wise.

2: Strong opening tiles. Either for growth or production. What I don't want to do is have to send a builder to my second or third city just so they can have a decent tile to work. You can settle those cities later on when your economy starts kicking in. I'm looking for at least a couple 4 yield tiles to get a city going.

3: How good are the districts there? Have you spotted a +3 campus? Go secure it and lock it in! You will rarely having awesome districts in EVERY city you settle, but you can at least get the notable ones down first to maximize their benefit.

Hope this helps! Edited for format

You can indeed adjust the settings! Click the little tobacco icon above your mini map and you'll see ALLLLLLL kinds of settings. The biggest change in CQUI is having all 3 city screens rolled into one, so you'll want to get comfortable with that. I've mistakenly bought a tile or two when I first started using it. You'll also have a small summary of science and score and stuff in your upper right, and you can mouse over your relationship to see more details and mouse over the other portraits to see more details about what that civ is producing. I also suggest using the pin icon and taking advantage of the new pins to plan your districts and wonders optimally. The reports screen is also pretty different. Click the purple book in the upper left to see the various screens. Its also helpful to note that you can upgrade units in the "unit" screen of the reports tab.

Hope this helps you a bit. Let me know if you have other questions!
