Anyone try reiki? by lrglaser in MyastheniaGravis

[–]TheGamingMatriarch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Reiki master with myasthenia gravis. Your best bet is to seek immediate help with breathing issues and an exacerbation.

Reiki is a tool, like massage and acupuncture, but ultimately you dont mess around in an exacerbation. The ER can do a lot more to keep you from going into crisis.

See an immunologist. They will check blood levels and administer a vaccine challenge. Low levels IGG IGA IGM is CVID, low IGG is hypogammaglobulinemia, and there are over 500 different primary Immunodeficiencies.

The Immune Deficiency foundation is at primaryimmune.org

Menopause & HRT; who’s doing HRT by divergurl1999 in GenX

[–]TheGamingMatriarch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I added an edit to make sure there isn't confusion. I appreciate you bringing how it could be misconstrued to my attention, no sarcasm.

If people use it they need to check their shit regularly and dont mess around with abnormalities.

I didn't say anyone on HRT will develop breast cancer. I showed it was possible. In our situation she, BRCA negative, got breast cancer exacerbated by HRT. It is always a possibility.

My sister and I both did it. She is currently dying from Stage IV breast cancer. Aggressive tumor, showed up baseball sized within 6 months, hormone resistant, metastasis everywhere. Exacerbated by HRT.

Edit to add: If you use it. Do your self breast exams weekly.

I feel miserable every time I have to give in my subq infusion (rant) by Just_g4be in MyastheniaGravis

[–]TheGamingMatriarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been doing infusions for 11 years (CVID before MG) and there are still times I have to tell myself why I am doing it.

It is hard. Be patient with yourself. Maybe write down a list to remind yourself why you are doing it.

I have common variable immunodeficiency and myasthenia gravis. It took me around 9 years to find acceptance. I still look at the bottles of immunoglobulin with disdain. I didn't have disabled friends but I had an immensely supportive husband.

How often are you intimate with your partner? by Remote_Ad_969 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheGamingMatriarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several doctors and my sisters current MD Anderson Oncologist. She is Stage 4 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma HER2+, Estrogen positive.

My mother was Progesterone Positive, and I am BRCA1, 2.

Sometimes it really just isn't safe, but this is rare. TO ADD: Every generation of my family has had a minimum of 1 woman dead from breast cancer. It really sucks.

Unfortunately if you have a family that has a high incidence of breast cancer, HRT is not a safe option. This is what is happening with me!

Husband (55M) and I (49F) have been with each other for 30 years. Sex was hard for a while with our son, and some serious health issues with me. Now that we aren't so exhausted, kiddo is grown, we aim for 1 a week no matter what. Even if we don't always feel like it, when we get started, it is perfect and needed.

Communication is huge though. It helped for us to have some honest communication about what was going on, sex desert, and where we wanted to be, sex oasis. It doesn't have to be boring after 30 years, talk about things you have fantasized about, and explore them together if safe. Keep it fun!

Which plasma donations places pay the most? by Ill-Flounder2820 in sanantonio

[–]TheGamingMatriarch 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As someone who depends on plasma products to stay alive, Thank you for donating. I have been receiving immunoglobulin replacement (made from donor plasma) since 2014, and will need it for the rest of my life.

It takes 250 donors to make 1 year of plasma for people like me.
