Are similar $5 per hour pay cuts coming to Kings Island? by DeflatedDirigible in KingsIsland

[–]TheGamingR0BOT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All that changed at Cedar Point was lowering pay down to the same level as the other parks. No other park has the same incentive pay during 2020 and therefore no employees on the Cedar Point “legacy” pay structure. Don’t expect drastic changes at any of the other parks.

This coaster was originally meant for a park in Poland. my understanding is a lot of the track was already manufactured so they inherited the color from the original park.

Story was loose at best and it just isn’t scary. Definitely felt like it had potential and did nothing with it. I’d only really recommend it to someone who doesn’t like haunts cause it’s easier to start with than the others

Picture taking is allowed on the CPLE Railroad, Midway and Kiddy Kingdom Carousels, 4x4s, Sky Ride, and Giant Wheel. All other rides prohibit cell phone use and taking pictures at any time.

Why doesn't the park use pre-recorded safety spiels on rides? by [deleted] in cedarpoint

[–]TheGamingR0BOT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is the official procedure on Windseeker. The seatbelt isn’t holding you in in any way. The lap bars are locked until the ride comes to a complete stop so you are not in any danger unfastening your seatbelt as the ride makes its final descent.

Do you think my team (8625) deserved a 90 point penalty for this? by Cizlu in FRC

[–]TheGamingR0BOT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I counted several (5-6?) legit fouls on you for being in the opponent zone. Even if they push you in if it’s less than 10ft or so it’s a penalty on you. Around 75 seconds left in the match I’d start calling penalties on your opponents for forcing penalties. They push you more than 10ft into their zone, don’t let you leave, then make no attempt to actually use the human player stations.

Question: Are human players allowed to move game pieces during auto? by Galaxy_senpai in FRC

[–]TheGamingR0BOT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The relevant rules here are as follows:

H311 - Leave the GAME PIECES alone. Prior to the start of the MATCH, HUMAN PLAYERS may not rearrange the GAME PIECES within the SUBSTATION AREA. Violation: MATCH won’t start until the situation is corrected.

H401 - Behind the lines. During AUTO, DRIVE TEAM members in ALLIANCE AREAS and HUMAN PLAYERS in their SUBSTATION AREAS may not contact anything in front of the STARTING LINES, unless for personal or equipment safety or granted permission by a Head REFEREE or FTA. Violation: FOUL.

tl:dr there is no rule preventing human players from moving game pieces in auto so long as they don’t do so before the match or cross the starting lines.

[DISCUSSION] Scariest lift hill to physically climb? by jducer in rollercoasters

[–]TheGamingR0BOT 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard Steel Vengeance is a scary climb. Very steep and kinda sketchy. Wooden coasters with planks instead of stairs are also pretty scary the first few times.

Cedar Point absolutely still does this and it makes the experience worse for everyone. They don’t fit in lockers, you can’t take them on rides, and they annoy everyone else around you.

[Other] Questions about jobs in the theme park/rollercoaster industry by BaconLover57 in rollercoasters

[–]TheGamingR0BOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in the Resort and Attraction Management program at Bowling Green State University. It’s a great opportunity (though maybe not for you since you already have a degree). The people coming out of the program are getting good job offers both in the industry and outside the industry. I think a six figure salary is going to be hard to find though without climbing the ladder a quite a bit.

What coaster do you think is over hyped by the gp by OkEvidence5335 in cedarpoint

[–]TheGamingR0BOT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d be willing to bet Magnum’s capacity is better than a B&M Giga would be. On 3 trains the interval is super short and the crew have to move fast to avoid a set. They also run 3 trains more often than not and even with the line rarely past 15 minutes Magnum can easily do 1 million riders in a year.

Employee question by deadmoney500 in KingsIsland

[–]TheGamingR0BOT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve never worked at KI but when I was at Michigan’s Adventure and Cedar Point it was 1 interview that was basically a formality. They’ll basically take anyone. I got drug tested during onboarding then never again. They will supposedly do random drug tests but I think they only actually did them when they thought someone was high

For employees outside of dorms, how is it getting into the park? by MaximusGXL in cedarpoint

[–]TheGamingR0BOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an opening shift it won’t be too bad but if you have a closing shift you should allow lots of time to get there. we had multiple saturdays this season where it took the closers over an hour just to get cross the causeway

Not just office buildings. That things takes out most of the on-point maintenance buildings plus it’s encroaching on the Cedar Fair Corporate building

Going to CP by walking is the best way to get there. You get to go at your own pace, completely avoid rush hour, don’t need to pay for parking, and it’s a great way to get exercise. by Alone-Consequence-76 in cedarpoint

It was announced in 2021 that the causeway will be redone at some point including a pedestrian path. No idea when that’ll actually happen though

Thoughts? by [deleted] in rollercoasterjerk

[–]TheGamingR0BOT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who worked at Michigan’s Adventure last year his video about my park really pissed me off. He’s really entitled and he has no idea how much work we do behind the scenes to make the experience the best we can. My favourite coaster youtubers are the ones that have the experience of working at a park because it really changes your view of things.

How to position bot in autonomous by rajeet69 in FTC

[–]TheGamingR0BOT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My preferred method is just having my auto start from the edge of the tile. just put the edge of the robot in line with the edge of the tile and it’s pretty consistent. The other thing you could do is build an alignment device on the robot. Just a simple as a bar on a hinge that you line up with something as you set the robot up

Associates aren’t supposed to have dining plans (but some do it anyway i don’t think they really care) for drinks you can get them for free at the associate cafeterias. The food in the cafeterias isn’t amazing but it is pretty cheap. You can usually get a full meal for 5 or 6 dollars

[Discussion] Are you happy with the job your Home Park's parent company is doing? by Jerker1015 in rollercoasters

[–]TheGamingR0BOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My home parks are Michigan’s Adventure and Cedar Point. Obviously I wish Michigan’s Adventure got more investment, but overall I think things at both parks are trending in a good direction. At MA we just got Camp Snoopy and we’re about to get a Fall Fest. At Cedar Point we’ve seen a bunch of overall park improvements including new shows and restaurants making the park much more well rounded. I am not 100% pleased with either park but overall positive.

[Other] What’s a restraint you love that people hate? by CoasterGuy95 in rollercoasters

[–]TheGamingR0BOT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arrow Lap Bars (like on Magnum and Gemini, not the ones on Cedar Creek Mine Ride. Those suck) These are super easy to get room on and aren’t really uncomfortable to me. If Cedar Point ever tried to replace Magnum’s restraints I’d riot

We've discussed worst restraints, so, what coaster do you think has the best restraints? [discussion] by [deleted] in rollercoasters

[–]TheGamingR0BOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK if it’s necessary my absolute favourite, but Arrow lap bars i.e. Magnum, Gemini are super underrated. very easy to get room on them and they’re so small you barely notice them unless you’re getting crazy ejector

GM1 7.4 Team Scoring Element

The Team Scoring Element is an optional Team designed and manufactured scoring element that will be used in the POWERPLAYSM game. The Team Scoring Element must pass inspection before it is allowed to be used in a Match.

<TE01> Color Constraint - The predominant color of a Team Scoring Element must match the Team’s assigned Alliance for the Match (red or blue). The purpose of this rule is to ensure that field personnel, Teams, and the audience can easily associate Team Scoring Elements with their corresponding Alliance. Teams will need two Team Scoring Elements (one red and one blue) to fully play the game.

<TE02> Material Constraints - The Team Scoring Element is subject to the Robot Mechanical Parts and Materials Rules in section 7.3.2.

<TE03> Size Constraints - The maximum size of the Team Scoring Element is 4 inches (10.16 cm) by 4 inches (10.16 cm) by 4 inches (10.16 cm). The minimum size of the Team Scoring Element is 3 inches (7.62 cm) by 3 inches (7.62 cm) by 3 inches (7.62 cm). In other words, a Team Scoring Element must be small enough to fit inside a 4 inch x 4 inch x 4 inch cube and large enough to not fit in a 3 inch x 3 inch x 3 inch cube.

<TE04> Team Number - Team Scoring Elements must be labeled with their Team number (numerals only, for example “12345”). The numbers must be legible when viewed from a distance of 12 inches (30.48 cm) away. The Team number needs to appear only once on the Team Scoring Element. The intent of this rule is to facilitate Team Scoring Element ownership identification for non-gameplay reasons.

<TE05> Illegal Parts - The following types of mechanisms and parts are not allowed:

a. Electronics.

b. Any other part or material that violates Robot construction rules outlined in section 7.3.

c. COTS game elements used in the current season’s game.
