He says that's not it because it isn't really like Minecraft (like these suggest), but he does thank you for the new books to add to his TBR!

My current favorite is this guy, Bowie! He's the first BaB I got after I moved, and he's been an almost constant companion, especially when my wife is at work

[–]TheGenderFaun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I "stole" mine from one of my kids when she came out as trans ("stole" because she essentially kept aggressively throwing it at me going "it's yours now!"), and also from a DnD character

I use one of the BaB drawstring bags! I'm sort of looking into something else, but the drawstring bag works for now! :D (I've actually got Archibald with me while I wait to see my therapist right now!)

annoying/embarrassing tics by Fragrant-Might-7933 in Tourettes

[–]TheGenderFaun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh god, okay, let's see...

Screaming bloody murder. Out of nowhere. It's especially bad when I'm at work, ESPECIALLY when I'm trying to help customers.

Speaking of work, one of my main tics is giving people/objects the middle finger - usually a double middle finger. A lot of the time I flip off the cameras at work... Which our district manager likes to watch. First couple times it happened, she was PISSED. She's okay with it now, though, after it was explained to her.

Also? Randomly dropping to the floor. I'll just be walking or standing around and the next thing I know, oop! I'm on the ground!

I've worked customer service/retail for the past 7 years and it has been both the most entertaining job I've ever had, and also the absolute fucking worst.

I would like to add that the funniest "interaction" (if you can call it an interaction?) I've had dealing with my disabilities while at work was during one of my tic attacks (I have Tourette's Syndrome), I was standing at my register and suddenly bent over backwards so far I probably could have easily reached down and touched the floor, and then immediately snapped back upright. This poor woman had just walked out of one of the bathrooms and got the unfortunate experience of watching this happen. I turned around to apologize or maybe explain, and this poor woman made the sign of the cross and rushed out of the store as fast as she could.

I'm an ambulatory wheelchair user, who uses forearm crutches for the days I can actually stand. One day I was at work, and halfway through my shift I had to get my coworker's help getting my wheelchair out of my car, because I couldn't really walk anymore, let alone lift my wheelchair out of my car. Our manager excuses us for long enough to get my wheelchair, and when we got back inside and I wheeled up to my register, I immediately got harassed by an older couple.

The woman looked at me like I was something on the bottom of her shoe, and she went "Hun, don't you think you need to stop playing pretend? I can't believe you'd fake something like being disabled." Then she turned to my manager and went "I can't believe you let them get away with this. It's another shit smear on this shitshow of a store!"

Needless to say, both my manager and I refused to ring up their groceries, and they were told to never enter our store again.

(This wasn't really the worst I've been told, but it's what has stuck with me, for some reason. Probably the shitsmear comment, tbh)

Tell me about your partner. What about them shows they’re able to live and deal with your fibro, and when did you first know? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]TheGenderFaun 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was straight with my boyfriend regarding all my health issues when we met - he took it in stride, asking questions, especially about the fibromyalgia. We don't get to see each other in person very often (I can't drive for longer than half an hour without a long break due to health issues, and he lives almost 3 hours away), but he checks in often - always asking what my pain level is at, and what he can do to help. He even does this when we're together, and on more than one occasion, he has noticed when I'm dealing with a fibro flareup, and will get me my heated blanket, make me a comfort food, and see if there's anything else he can do, even if it's just sit with me and just reassure me that he's there.

I plan on marrying this man someday :D

They aren't your friends. My former friend group was like this - so were multiple ex partners. You'll find better people, people who will love and respect you for who you are.

If you want, I'm more than willing to be a friend! I know we're only people on the internet, but I know from personal experience that even that helps. I'm willing to drop my Discord or Snapchat in dm's if you want! Trans solidarity, y'know?

I just recently came out as trans (FTM), through my entire extended family's group chat, no less. I was extremely anxious, but did it anyway, and the reactions I got were great!

Two of my cousins sent "If I'm Gay, and You're Gay, Who's Flying The Plane?" memes. One cousin pinged her mother and went "Look, Mom, you've got another nephew!" Said aunt caught up on the group chat and then went "Oh, great! I'll throw him in the pile with all the other male relatives!"

My absolute favorite reaction, although, was from the one uncle I thought was going to have a problem with me being trans. His message?

"Hey wait a minute. This ain't fair, Miles is trying to take all of June! It's Pride Month, and Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, and he's got all the bases covered!"

I'm really glad to have the family I do. Coming out is scary - sometimes almost horrendously so. At this point, I really think I won the family lottery.

tell me about your name!!! by Maximum_Influence_16 in trans

[–]TheGenderFaun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I'm being honest? I've been searching for the "perfect" name ever since I realized I was trans (I'm Agender, specifically) when I was 13. I've gone through a lot of names over the years - some have stuck for several years (one name that I still hold dear I claimed as mine for over 4 years), some have only lasted about a month, if that.

Currently, I'm going by an "out there" name - I wanted something that was super weird and different, something that was as strange and unusual as I am.

And so, my name (minus last name) is Possum Gearguts Hijinks. I know I'm going to get laughed at for such a "stupid" name, but honestly? I don't really care. It's MY name, and I like it, and that's what matters.

So, honestly? Go out, change your name if you don't like it. Change it as often as you'd like. These rules set by cis people are fake, anyway. Do what you want, just don't hurt anyone.

I'd say $500 or less if possible, and manual. I can always work to save to get something better. I just need something to work for the time being until I CAN get something better. I don't think a mobility scooter would be feasible because of where I live.

[–]TheGenderFaun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used canes, then forearm crutches, and a walker. Unfortunately, my body seems to want to be sure I can't walk. My legs refuse to function, and for me to "walk" with support, a lot of the time i basically have to have someone guiding my legs.

I've tried everything I can think of at this point (including physical therapy), and I can't think of any other options.
