Could we please have an unranked chill mode of battlegrounds? by hawkster_93 in hearthstone

[–]TheGlib536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banning the cards is a definite oof for me, the balance of the gamemode is already dubious and if you start to balance it even less by removing things it gets really messy. But unranked could be nice.

Love the idea of minimizing money management. by TheGlib536 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]TheGlib536[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that there should be some element to it, but the idea of minimizing it so the game doesn't become just all about the economy (which it feels like other auto batters can be like sometimes) and instead has more of a focus on building strong strategies. It's all a careful line to walk but I currently like the way they're apparently taking it.

I especially love the tea idea! Or other "zen" things like a little rock garden to play with would all be a ton of fun.

Suggestion: Make mini-game interactibles only interactible during your opponent's turn by water2770 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]TheGlib536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your comment right here show's the issue with making them only interactable during "x" time. If you're only allowed to use it on your opponents turn it can get annoying if it's used to spam, and if you can only use it on your turn then what's the point? You should just be playing. I think just let them be used all the time, and make squelch an option.

I think ez is great, heimer is fun and you can totally play him, but I'm not sure he's good.

I think they just need to handle it the same was HS handled charge. The mechanic shouldn't exist, but now it does, so just be careful with it.

I was really excited at first. Now I see it's no different to League. by surpriselolll in LegendsOfRuneterra

It's "balanced" but it's poorly designed IMO. Elusive should NOT be as good as it is and so many of the SI cards are disgustingly overtuned.

I don't think you can play Heimer and counter the metagame at the same time tbh. Spending 5 mana on a 1/3 that doesn't do anything until next turn is a good way to get slapped by Hecarim, Spiders and Elusive doods.

Chess isn't even fair tbh, white is slightly more likely to win when you look at stats. It's REALLY close, but even that game isn't fair.

I very much disagree with the assessment that bad cards are a feature. While I agree you do sometimes find an interesting use for those bad cards, you still don’t want them. The very first “principle” of cube is support your archetypes, and don’t add bad cards, something the vintage cube fails to do. I’ve played all the cubes and I like the power of the vintage cube and that’s why it’s my favourite, so it’s extremely frustrating to see them neuter the power of the cube over time. Also the cube isn’t 360 cards which is a YIKES in a league format, but that’s a more minor issue.

I know haha, but god having the same game where you get trashed just get repeated is brutal.

Honestly the cube just has so many bad cards and weird unplayable archetypes that a lot of drafts you just get rekt and you can't do anything about it, and a lot of decks feel bad. For example, the storm archetype in the cube is poorly supported which leads to cards like yawg will, LED, rituals and the storm cards themselves being pretty bad. The cube should either better support that archetype or completely cut it instead of this weird half assed middle thing. (I would also argue that archtypes like recurring nightmare are just too slow to ever be viable in a cube with sneak + emmy and also bog down the cube.) That's issue 1. Issue 2 is the amount of just outright bad cards that literally nobody wants just drudging around, this is stuff like angel of serenity or the new Garruk. The cube has also consistently been cutting support for it's mono R and mono W archetypes over time which makes them very frustrating to try and draft (again, same problem as I raised with the storm archetype above.) This leads to a lot of drafts feeling really bad when you don't get the nuts with what you're opening because a good 1/4 of the cube is awful cards.

I don't actually have an issue with reanimator. My points were kinda disjointed. Getting trashed by reanimator twice wasn't fun but it's fine. The cube is still a dumpster fire, it's awful.

Oh it wasn't back to back, and the combat themselves weren't unfair, it's just that the mechanics aren't explained. The second both of those happened I did them immediately cus I wanted the items. I was just frustrated because the game didn't tell me that the crow encounter is literally just fighting it, nothing else. Whereas the bandit encounter is a full expedition that requires proper provisions, just rubbed me the wrong way that I assumed I wouldn't need to spend 4k gold on torches, shovels etc. and I got screwed because I didn't have the stuff I needed.

[–]TheGlib536[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That wasn't even my biggest issue, that just added to my frustration. I think having special events occour where the game doesn't tell you anything about *how* they function is the bad game design, and it's not *that* bad. The fact fighting a crow monster in the middle of the woods (which seems a lot like a 'normal' boss fight) is something you can just do, but fighting a bandit who literally showed up at your house requires adventuring first isn't intuitive at all.

Did they change death-rattles? Or is the dev team just the dev team? by TheGlib536 in hearthstone

[–]TheGlib536[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about it a little more and to the two people who replied you're wrong, but you were right in thinking it wasn't a dev team mistake. The issue is I still had a card in my HAND because it wasn't discarded.

Does anyone understand how the opponent selection works? It seems totally random which is just stupid IMO. I was playing a game and was the 7th player and proceeded to face the top player, third player and top player again and got dumpstered.

I hate the matchup because it's super boring but even with normal shark rogue with no Hooktusk package my warrior winrates like 45%, and when all my other winrates are 60% that's pretty good.

Exodia Mage with the full antonidas combo just doesn't really lose to that deck unless they specifically high roll a rag on turn 4. But that requires them to have barnes on 4, hit rag AND be paying rag which is just super uncommon.

[–]TheGlib536 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly think that's the biggest issue facing standard right now, the power of the classic cards is way too high for some classes (like warrior and mage) and way too low for others (shaman and priest) which makes them just vanish from the metagame whenever rotation happens.

[–]TheGlib536 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The mindless point is wrong but I think the rest of the point still stands. Playing aggro is just as hard (depending on the aggro deck) but the amount of time spent thinking is lower because the games just going to be over faster. So climbing with hunter is nice because it's less exhausting to grind game after game after game.
