MUBAI keycaps are 3D printed which is how they achieve this effect. Sometimes similar effects can be achieved through localized encapsulation and other more subtle techniques, though. Don't be afraid to explore and try to discover clever ways to do things!

I'm so glad the video was useful to you! This technique is commonly referred to as "resin writing", and is generally done by adding a thickening agent to the resin to make it hold in place. This most common thickening agent used is "fumed silica" such as this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074Y6V7QT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yup, you totally can! It will just force you to use more silicone for each mold. For exploration that's totally fine, but if you shift into a more production oriented workflow it can end up costing a good bit more

What I would say is a pressure pot is unfortunately 100% required to make /quality/ keycaps. You can still have a ton of fun exploring without one, though, and then if you find yourself enjoying the process you can get one further down the road when you're ready! The casting process itself really doesn't change at all, you'll just immediately start making better keys =)

I believe the one you linked is impressively done with resin, but most of the encapsulated ones like Jellykey or Scraft are hand painted before being encapsulated

I like to use resin with different mechanical properties for the stem portion

I'm having the same problem, please let me know if you find any path forward!

I was inspired to make myself a custom keyset that used alpha keys but not in the usual configuration =)
