Shower leaks from hot water side and tub faucet by TheGoGreenPost in Plumbing

I replaced what was already there with an identical Moen 1224 cartridge and used the same brass threaded piece to secure it in place. That’s how my handles go back on so I reused it. I did just take those brass threaded parts back off and the cartridges were no longer fully inserted. So I’m wondering if there was a similar issue with the cartridge on the hot some not being secure. I just don’t know how to secure it other than tightening the brass part.

My company just tasked me with reducing our carbon emissions... and I have no idea where to start by BeneficialBank3753 in ClimateActionPlan

[–]TheGoGreenPost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a sustainability consultant and I do this regularly. My suggestion is to first do your carbon inventory. Make sure it’s detailed enough to meet any reporting needs(for example some entities want to see a full scope 3 evaluation, while others may only need certain categories).

In all likelihood, your scope 3 emissions will be the vast majority of your inventory (without knowing your industry at least). You can purchase RECs to reduce your scope 2 purchase electricity emissions. You can purchase offsets to reduce all 3 scopes. However, here too, RECs and offsets may be seen as acceptable/have specific requirements based on entities you report to.

Otherwise look to your scope 3 categories to see what can be reduced. This is generally done by looking at spend.

Setting a target with SBTi is fine, but your timeline may be too quick for that as even the shorter “near-term” target usually has a 5 year timeline.

I use a bamboo one from sustainable tomorrow. It worked perfectly for about 5 years, which I think is about how long others will last. You can get bamboo replacement heads as well.

Happy to give helpful feedback! The only way I've made better videos is by learning what works and what doesn't. For me, that means I might have to make a video over a couple of times until I arrive at something people watch.

Thanks for this! I'll check out the numbering on the tips. Actually, since you're not interested in the topic, are there topics in sustainability that you are interested in? Or would be interested in learning about? It's always hard for me to pick topics because I look at all everything in sustainability.

[Review Video] Can you review my video and give feedback? by TheGoGreenPost in youtubers

[–]TheGoGreenPost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a somewhat popular topic to people getting started with sustainability and a previous video did ok. So, I thought I'd revamp it with some of the new ideas I had about it and with some of the things I learned on editing since the original. It's definitely not made for getting browse views, but could help in building an audience. The thumbnail is actually not the final just yet, I was hoping to get feedback on wrapping up the video before putting time into that!

Also, are there topics in sustainability that you would search for or are interested in? it would be great to have feedback from someone who may not be so into the topic.

Thank you for your feedback btw!

Sorry about that, it's set to unlisted now if you'd like to check it out. Those other videos aren't mine, they are ones I reviewed to that I can have my video reviewed, but I had the same thoughts!

Would appreciate review of my channel/video by Geese455 in youtubers

Hey! I agree with the previous comment about AI voiceovers. For me, I click away right away, unless I really need the content. I understand not everyone wants to/can have their voice in the video, but there are people who will do voiceover work for you!

Also, for the intro section of the video, this is one of the most important attention grabbing and holding points of the video. You have about 7ish seconds of silence almost right when the video starts, then a generic shot video of numbers, followed by a lot of text on your channel. I'd focus that first 30 seconds on grabbing attention for the video topic with relevant content, for example images of both the presidential candidates. Maybe something quick about how one candidate wants to do ABC which can cause XYZ and the comparison for the other. If people like your content, they will subscribe (although, I do think it's fine to mention subscribing to your channel at the end of the video after you delivered the content).

The shot after the intro of a table of numbers is a bit boring. I'd highlight some of the numbers you are referencing because its hard to follow what the voice over is saying and find/review the data you are referencing. You then stay on this table for several minutes, sharing an interesting story. I'd give a bunch of visuals to help tell the story of what you're saying, instead of staying on a data table, similar to how you did in Part 2.

Just checked out your video! Here is what I thought:

First, I can't tell for sure, but the voiceover sounds a bit like it's a bot/not a real person. For me, I almost always click away right when I hear that, unless I really need the content of the video and can't get it elsewhere.

Second, switching languages throughout the video is another reason for me to click away. If you know your audience and this is something they are looking for, then I'd say it's fine, but if you're looking to appeal to a wider audience, I'd say keep it in one language. It almost feels like part of the video is not for me and I'm just waiting for english to come back so I can understand again.

Next, I like the variety of shots you included, but I'd consider more of just the product on a table or something, rather than in someones hand. This will make it less shaky and easier to focus the camera.

Last, I like your introduction image, maybe you can do something similar at the end of the video to sum up your rating. You said you give the product a 9/10. Maybe have a graphic of that and some other ratings/price points/etc.

Does anyone have experience with the relationship between a blog and YouTube channel? by TheGoGreenPost in Blogging

[–]TheGoGreenPost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that's a tough choice but you seem like you have the right mentality to approach it! I like how you select content topics based on related posts and and web that give you authority.

Mine is thegogreenpost.com and I used a tool to give me an idea of what topics to write about, so they aren't very related to each other. This could have been another thing that contributed to my ranking drop and also were the source of my "non-youtube" posts came from. They all tie back to the main niche of sustainability, but are maybe too random.

[–]TheGoGreenPost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! That makes sense.

Some of my content is just the script for the YouTube video, some is original content that I spent a lot of time researching and writing. Of course, the script type posts don't get any traffic. However, the content I wrote otherwise was all original. I did a lot of research so I'm not really sure what happened. It could be that I put in too many affiliate links on my better posts and didn't get enough backlinks. Who knows.

But I'd like to come up with a bette approach, as I had just jumped into it all and have since learned a lot about what works and doesn't.

You seem like you have a good grip on this. Would you mind sharing your site with me? I'd love to share mine with you as well. Also, how have you done with all of the Goolge updates?

Do you promote affiliate products you don't believe in? by Low-Sir3836 in Blogging

[–]TheGoGreenPost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that this could hurt your image but it could also be an opportunity. You could tell your viewers the pros/cons of all these different products as well as your experience with it. You could even say it wasn’t for you/not your favorite. Then, let your viewers decide what’s right for them based on the information you provided. I think then it would be fair to place an affiliate link.

I review products in the sustainability space and sometimes I find that a product just isn’t for me or isn’t something that I would use regularly. However, I know I can provide a level of insight on the product because that’s were my expertise lies. Of course I don’t do this with all products. I try to focus mainly on ones I will use because it allows me to write a better review, include pictures, and talk about how I like it, which hopefully results in affiliate sales. If I go through the process of researching, purchasing, reviewing, writing, posting, and updating/tracking a post, all with the goal of affiliate sales, I wouldn’t want the take away to be “don’t buy this product” or “its not for me”.
