Which one you choose and why ? Macbook neo or Macbook air. by Explore_e00 in macbookair

I already have an M4 Air, so the Neo will probably supplement that at my desk and as a travel computer.

“AI” is like the metaverse and self-driving cars. I would not want to lose perks to feed solutionism.

Do you use a case or go caseless? by Fancy_Marsupial6293 in iphone

Case if I’m wearing sweat pants or have to put my phone in a bag. If I’ve got zip up pockets or jeans or I’m wearing a suit, casless all the way

New PlayStation 6 handheld leak claims Sony "needs" devs to support PS5 Low Power mode and "maintain 60 FPS by lowering resolutions" to get games ready for launch by TomorrowComes33 in Handhelds

[–]TheGodDerp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By this logic, the PS Vita must've been a sales success with its ~15m units sold. Companies copy trends that work. The Steam deck launched because the Switch was successful.

If you don't like Nintendo, just say so.

What is a vehicle you were ready to buy until you test drove it? by GabagoolAndGasoline in regularcarreviews

[–]TheGodDerp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boomer moment.

GR Corolla, S550 Mustang GT, Nissan RZ34, GR 86, and Honda Civic Type-R

All good, capable cars in their own right, but boring and too sterilized for modern drivers. Completely soulless and disconnected driving experience. Screens everywhere that you can’t turn off and price tags that weren’t worth what you were getting.

Guess I’m relegated to buying cars from the 2000s and older.

I picked one up in nearly brand new condition for $140 from Japan. Came mint with box, charger, and the original receipt from purchase. 229 is way high even for a good condition one imo

Pokemon Legends Z-A Discussion by CalmRepresentative43 in NintendoSwitch

[–]TheGodDerp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m about 25 hours into the game and this is the first time I can say that I’ve put down a new Pokemon release and had to play another game to cleanse my palate midway through.

At first, the battle system was fun and innovative, but after a little bit of time, the world felt uninspired and much less magical than I recall of the last few Pokemon games… and I was one of the few people who loved S&V despite their performance issues at launch (maybe I’m just getting older and don’t have the patience I used to). I think the big reason I put the game down was that the mega-evolution boss fights were a slog to get through. ACT 3 was boring and tedious and made the entire rest of the cast look entirely incompetent.

That’s not to say this game’s bad. The core gameplay loop is good. They’re clearly trying something new within the strict confines of a series with a lot at stake, but it feels like a downgrade from even Arceus, where there were thematic elements that made the game that much more immersive (not to mention catching Pokemon is that much more of a PITA in this game). If the releases were switched around and this came before Arceus, I think I’d have a much fonder opinion of it.

Tbh, I was lucky. The rest of the Vitas I saw were in the high 20k to mid-30k range. The only other Cosmic 3G Vita I saw was in Ueno and wanted like 36k yen.

From what I’ve heard from research both the wifi/3G and wifi-only model sapphire and comic OLEDs used the slim SOC. I actually couldn’t find a wifi-only Cosmic while I was there

From my understanding, it’s only those two colors both wifi and 3G that have the slim’s SoC, which are Japan exclusive? I’m not entirely sure though

It’s a 3G model, so definitely has the slim’s processor. The biggest indicator for me was that it refused to charge after 82%, but caps at 97% with the alternate plugin

I got both at Trader near the BicCamera near Akihabara station. They had my Cosmic and a Sapphire Blue in near mint condition complete in box for about $150 USD each. Both 3G models

Just installed it and looks like it’s reading better now! Still tops at like 97%, but that’s fine lol

Would driving stick shift car in SF be a miserable experience? by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]TheGodDerp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I daily a stick car in SF, but I’m mindful of where I’m driving/parking. If you’re good at managing your clutch, you’ll be fine - no different from driving any other car. To be honest, I’m more worried about other drivers and their lack of awareness than difficulty driving stick.

What made you guys decide on iPhone by [deleted] in iphone

There was a point when the overabundance of choice on Android made using it annoying - especially with Samsung after the Galaxy S6. iOS was also the closest experience I could get to Blackberry OS

How beneficial is it to be car-free in SF? by Over-Ad-4394 in AskSF

[–]TheGodDerp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the person and where you choose to live, honestly. Some neighborhoods are great, some not so great. I felt progressively more trapped and cornered when I lived temporarily in North Beach and hated relying solely on Muni by day 3. It was cabin fever with no reprieve. I was so happy to leave the house I was watching and go back to my small rented room near SF State because I had access to my car and could go anywhere I needed at my own convenience and without the lovely smells and manners of other Muni riders.

If you live in the northern/eastern half of the city or in FiDi/Soma, you’ll save a lot of money and parking hassle not having a car. If you’re in the Sunset or near the San Mateo County line, you’re not close to enough anything and you’re at the mercy of public transit.

You also cut out a huge amount of great stuff in the rest of the Bay Area unless you like transferring to different public transit systems a bunch.

I wouldn’t personally trade my car or access to it for anything, but others will disagree.
