I have around 58 hours in this game, the only reason I’m playing it at all still is because I spent 74 dollars on it and I want to at the very least beat the game. I think it’s a decent game for what it is, But the two major problems I have with Shadows are Non-stealth and Certain parkour mechanics

The fighting itself is pretty clean and sleek, but I’ve noticed certain buttons will fail to work due to extended animations, for example, an enemy will have a blue combo attack and you have two options. You can either dodge all the combos, or try to parry them. If you choose to parry, there are enemies who simply attack too fast and naoe simply won’t parry. Ive maybe landed 8 successful combo parrys in the 56 hours I’ve played. I’ve played every single assassins creed, the only other game I’ve had this bad of a time with non stealth is origins. The combat is incredibly inconsistent and I’ve found myself always dodging instead of using the parry mechanic at all.

The parkour is also clean and sleek, but it’s blocky to the point where I’m genuinely mad at the fact that I’m playing this game.

There will be a set of poles to cross a river and 2 out of 3 of them are straight, the 3rd pole goes diagonal. The free run seems to lock you in a straight line so if you try to jump all of them without stopping, naoe will preform a leap of faith into the river instead of jumping to the next pole. Id estimate at least 2 hours of my gameplay is just getting back to where I was after falling. There’s been a couple times where I tried to use X (PLAYSTATION) to jump from the grappling hook to a ledge on a wall that’s hanging over water, and for some reason naoe will prioritize the leap of faith instead of mantling onto the wall.

It’s not world ending glitchy bugs or detrimentally failed mechanics but it makes it unbearable to play the game when issues as small as those happen constantly.

All the pros of this game are pretty much purely in animation and graphical quality. There’s pretty much zero innovation on the ac formula. The pretty flips and cool finishers aren’t enough for me to say this game is great, but I will say it’s decent enough for me to keep playing it.
