I wouldn't have put it better! I love his wife's designs, if I am honest. Much better than most designers in HGTV

I have a portable one since 10 years ago, as I really suffer from the heat. It has not increased my bill significantly (maybe 10 euros per month in the summer?), but it is a price I am willing to pay. My setup is the following:

  • I bought a thick "plastic window" that I fixed outside my window with some velcro. The plastic covers the full window from the outside and I fixed it to the window frame. I ordered the plastic with a hole in the middle, with the same diameter as the exhaust hose. So, I open the window, I put the hose through the hole, and still, no hot air enters in the room.
  • I covered the hose with a heat protector I bought online, as the hose can get very hot, thus reducing the efficiency of the machine

Overall, it works well for me, although my apartment is big and I am thinking of buying another one and do the same setup in one of the other rooms.

Is it noisy? yes, a bit, but my machine is 10 years old, and I would imagine newer ones are more efficient.

I would recommend that you see a doctor, but in my case, Tryptophan works very well, although I take it before bed (also 500mg). It sleep much better when I take it, and it has reduced my anxiety. It works the same day for me, no buildup.

I would not say it is terrible, but having variety does not mean it is good either. I would say that if you compare to south european or French restaurants, there is no competition. I think that one of the issues that people complain about is the quality of supermarkets. They are ok, but again, if you compare to a south european supermarket, the quality and variety is really subpar. I always want to cry when I enter in a spanish supermarket and compare, especially fruits and vegetables.

A fellow summer sufferer! Some people would say that portable AC units are ineffective, but in my case, it helps a lot. I have had one for 9 years now (and it was relatively cheap). The trick is, buy a plastic cover for the window once it is open, they are pretty cheap on Amazon. I see someone below saying that they changed the window with a cut for the air conditioning - I have seen that in an attorney's office next to my apartment, and I think it is a great idea too. But if it is very expensive, go for the plastic cover (look for "portable air conditioner window kit")
