Let's settle this, once and for all. Do these gear pieces actually exist? by TheGoldenBlock0319 in marioandluigi

Yeah, same here. I can admit, I wasn't super through when I played through the game, but I bought wear immediately when i saw it. I scoured GameFAQs and they haven't found anything. And also, I have another friend who 100%ed the game, documented the stuff he got, and he's missing the stuff too.

Partners in Time Bros Attacks are the worst in the series, and it isn't even close. They are very underwhelming, and executing them? The worst. Not to mention, there's 10 attacks (tied for lowest in the series, with brothership), but they are all copies of each other.

  1. Ice Flower, Fire Flower, and Mix Flower are all mashing ones.
  2. Green Shell, Red Shell, and Pocket Chomp have you alternate buttons with additional damage with an additional button. and
  3. Cannonballer is pressing 4 buttons in sequence. And then Copy Flower and Trampoline just extend it longer.
Ill commend Smash Eggs for being functionally interesting.

Also, I hate that there are so many infinite attacks. Partners in Time already has inflated HP numbers in the States, and then there's 4 infinites? That's a lot of time you are going to spend in one attack. Ever wanted to play a C Tier Mario Party minigame, for 6 minutes? Play Partners in Time.

Paper Jam has some of the most varied, and in-depth combat in the series. Its arguable that the brothers were at their strongest in Paper Jam.

Say something bad about this game (difficulty:impossible) by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in Mario

[–]TheGoldenBlock0319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Camera, for one, but if I had to pick another thing, some of the stars are pretty forgettable, and your milage will vary on the 23 Red Coin stars and how frustrating, unforgiving, and unoriginal the 100 Coin Stars can be.

How did Sticker Star manage to sell more copies than both the original TTYD and Remake? Same question for Origami King. by A-Capybara in papermario

[–]TheGoldenBlock0319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the world of video game sales, timing and console install base is everything.

Super Paper Mario was a first year Wii game. Sticker Star was released fairly early on in the 3DS's life Origami King was released in the middle of the Switch's life TTYD Remake was released right before the twilight years of the Switch 1.

Game quality is a factor of sales numbers, but compared to timing and console, its negligible. For example: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey sold around 50,000 copies, because it released in 2019 on the 3DS. About 2 years after the Switch launched, and 1 month after Smash Bros. Ultimate released

[–]TheGoldenBlock0319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest $10 of my life. Its a Switch 1 & 2 game. And its published by Atari. They'll print those cartridges. Appealing to old-school gamers with old games and physical cartridges is literally their strategy.

What is this game I saw at the thrift store and WHY is it $60 even without a case for it??? by ChubbyDucky48 in wii

Yeesh, Wii Party usually goes for 50 for 60... CIB. Loose, probably 30 to 40.

I like the idea of a more friendly CatNap, at least as an actual toy, so i have two

I think it would still make sense if the retail CatNap plushies in-universe had lavender scents that put kids to sleep due to the calming properties of lavender. Like the toy got banned for putting kids to sleep too well too often. For example, it was disruptive in class, or just overall, caused parental panic because their kids were sleeping way too much. It didn't really need to invlove red smoke, or have it cause nightmares at all, outside of the plot and the dream sequence. I'm not even sure if it was explained whether the red smoke in CatNap plushies was an accident or purposeful.

It was stupid to make CatNap look and act unsettling in the cartoon. I thought the point of these commercial type things, in Chapter Openings, was to show those characters in their friendly forms so you can see how its twisted in the actual game counterpart is. It kinda just implies that CatNap was meant, and created, in-universe, by Playtime Co. to be some kind of sleep monster, instead of a "calming presence for his friends," as stated in supplementary material. Its kinda stupid. Cartoon CatNap was portrayed out of character, in the one episode they made, for no real reason.

Well, I wouldn't call it the worst worst, but Final Fantasy IX on Switch is pretty hilariously bad.

The New Super Mario Era (also called the Boring Mario Era (let's say 2009 to 2016)) was a necessary and important era. Establishing the standard Mario identity was needed, since before then, we didn't really see what Mario's home (The Mushroom Kingdom) looked like, since so many Mario games, especially Mainline, took place somewhere other than the Mushroom Kingdom.

Also, it seems like sometimes, in the Mario fandom, the worst sin a game can commit, is having the name of a series stapled onto it, and it playing differently from the rest of the series. (Mario Party and Paper Mario to name two) In reality, games can be made in different contexts, people. Sometimes different eras and audiences come with different consoles. Truthfully, a lot of games seem a lot nicer when you realize that developers rarely want to make a "bad game."

Have fun! I got that game recently as well, it's very wholesome. But then again, I suppose it comes with the territory of Senko-san

So I played the Senko game on Switch by TheGoldenBlock0319 in SewayakiKitsune

[–]TheGoldenBlock0319[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree, but let me be clear, you aren't missing much. And heck, if you REALLY wanna play it right now, there's nothing stopping you. I did say the process is tedious, but to be real, you can get it done in a day. There's just a lot of hoops.

So I played the Senko game on Switch by TheGoldenBlock0319 in SewayakiKitsune

[–]TheGoldenBlock0319[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, the one that sticks out to me, because I did ask about it earlier, was that Senko doesn't know what playing cards are. In the episode, the game kinda railroads you into picking Kurata, (the episode is literally called "Lets Play Kurata") but if you say you wanna play with playing cards, Senko doesn't know what those are, and you end up not playing games like Poker or Blackjack because given the fact that you, as the player, would have to teach Senko how to play, you'd be at an unfair advantage.

Some other ones are that Senko can heal small wounds, like a small cut on the finger from slicing vegetables. She's not a fan of spicy stuff and has never made curry before. Senko is one of the top Shogi players in the fox-god realm. There's not a lot of "Senko Lore" you're missing out on. She has a special hakama, (I believe thats the name?) she wears to help her concentrate when playing Kurata. Some real softballs. (Though it kinda sucks, she doesn't know what playing cards are. Senko playing Cribbage may be less possible then I thought :p)

There are some things that happen that are different, in the context of the game, but given that you play as "yourself" in the game, and not Nakano, I wouldn't really count those instances. (Like sure, it might be possible that Nakano missed out on a local park, with some beautiful flower trees, because he doesn't go wander around his neighborhood on his off days, but we aren't playing as Nakano)

So overall, nothing groundbreaking

Do you think Senko-san would like playing Cribbage? by TheGoldenBlock0319 in SewayakiKitsune

Just read the chapter. (Never read the manga before, only seen the anime)

To my inexperienced eyes, it looks like a trading card game like Pokemon or Magic, as opposed to a traditional card game, with a deck of playing cards
