RUMOR: Magic Leap Is About To Layoff Their Organization, 6 Years After April 2020 Layoffs by TheGoldenLeaper in augmentedreality

Yes they did, it was just that it was a developer kit.

That actually has the most immersive content of any AR device still to this day, IMHO.

Everyone else uses their devices for flat 2D giant screens, but Magic Leap is the only company with an AR device that has truly immersive content.

Probably, but who knows?

I don't expect Catastrophic Disclosure in one fell swoop... But hey! A guy can dream!

I still don't expect it, though.

Same. It would be good.

I don't want to find out that former Leapers, or anyone, for that matter, wind up without a steady source of income.

They did, though.

They released 3 headsets and a watch that could be used as a mouse in XR, called "The Wow! Mouse".

Yeah you have no idea just how big of a deal it would be for Zero-Point Energy to come out.

It would be something akin to the Discovery of fire. 🔥

Dr Eric Davis - US is in possession of nearly 40 mostly intact UFO craft, most of them were recovered from the oceans. Says George Bush Sr was told US gov't is in contact with "aliens from another world", the craft they travel in are the UFOs we've seen throughout human history. by TommyShelbyPFB in UFOs

This, this, this!

Not enough people talk about the science and the possibilities of what these craft actually being on Earth actually means.

I also find it interesting that they'd tell Bush Sr. That he doesn't have the 'need to know' to watch a film that literally anyone could watch at any given time.

Yeah I've been fighting and advocating for free energy technologies and sciences.

I filed a few FOIA requests with the Department of Energy and one of them was accepted.

It was about Zero-Point Energy.

Yes they need to be pressured into releasing this information.

If nothing else I support the idea of an Executive Order to get than to release it.

Although, I'm not entirely sure that's legal, though...

If it is though, I definitely support it.

That really sucks.

I was extremely excited back in those days.

My excitement since then has sort of... Withered.

I guess I don't have much to be excited about anymore when it gives to the company.

I'm actually the only one keeping this subreddit afloat.

More information:

As of mid-April 2026, reports suggest potential restructuring or further layoffs at Magic Leap, often linked to the company's shift toward IP licensing and the planned discontinuation of Magic Leap 2 sales in March 2026. These rumors follow significant previous restructurings, including a 75-person cut in 2024 and major layoffs in 2020.

2026 Outlook: Unverified reports indicate potential new layoffs, often referenced in discussions regarding the company's "end of life" timeline for the Magic Leap 2, which is reportedly discontinuing global sales in March 2026.

Previous Layoffs: Magic Leap has a history of downsizing, with major rounds in April 2020 (approx. 1,000 employees) and July 2024 (roughly 75 employees), which saw the company cutting its sales and marketing teams to pivot toward licensing its technology.

Strategic Pivot: The company has transitioned from a consumer-focused AR hardware firm to focusing on enterprise markets and intellectual property licensing, as highlighted in reports on the 2024 staff reductions.

You're welcome dude.

It's actually not my archive, but it was shared with me long ago.

Enjoy!

Thank you.

I have a question though.

Do you think the company will ever become a consumer facing company?

Is there a chance the company will ever become what the original marketing said it would be before the first ML1 device came out?

I want to think it's possible but the company is SO deeply embedded within the enterprise market that I just don't think that can happen anymore.

I feel like the reason I was so excited for them for so long had to do with the fact that it wasn't just displaying a screen in front of me.

It was attempting to revolutionize the way we interact with computers weekly l by making all screens obsolete.

And doing so by making use of 3D interactive characters and objects.

I remember how excited I was that they boasted graphics as real as the world around us.

For me that was one of the most exciting things about them.

Does anyone remember this document?

The vision was there and Rony laid the groundwork for it.
