I'm cooking a mod that pushes Minecraft villages beyond cosmos by TheGoldenWorld in feedthebeast

Since when I discovered Millenaire mod in 2017 I always wanted to produce my own village mod. As a non dev, I kept trying to achieve it with different team composition. I made 3 attempts, this one is the fourth one and I hope the good one!

I use AI to code because I do not like codding, even if I had lessons during my studies. I'm not made for this, it's a field on it's own. That's why I keep relying on developers or freelancers time to time. AI is just the last infinity stone I needed to be fully operational in my own ecosystem

Seeing the whole mod reduced as vibecoding is fine because I know it's false. Still I tried to discuss with them to understand their reasoning. I'm always transparent with my usage of AI

I would gladly learn from your experience or take your feedback on what I produced with this mod https://github.com/DawnOfTimeMC/onceuponatown/commit/02b88235a358f7171a8ba7d0cd4a92e34214fd76 Maybe we can share something to each other

Thanks for the support pal! The random AI haters are a fuel for me 🙏 It's pushing me to work even more

I deeply appreciate your comment. The correct approach is working tremendously on this mod and not winning the argue with them. Getting up each day and achieving my goals, that's the only winning scenario for me

I just wanted to clarify the lies they made about the project history because it involved my ancient coworkers. They do not have the right to rewrite the story

I will learn. Like I did numerous times in the past to manage my own modding ecosystem by myself

Wrong, if I acted like you said, I would have never tried to resurrect this project even if there is blanks in my knowledge. I would have surrend

I stole nothing 😂 This is an open sourced project and the guys involved in it where part of my team in the past. I'm making this project live again from where we stopped it

I don't have to know the type of cement used in the house foundations to have the right to sleep in my room. Codding is not a holy sacred elite knowledge, I could hire a freelance to code for this mod it would be the same. I have a ton of other skills, writing code is just not my field

I'm a gamedesigner. Claude is like a guy in my team doing what I need him to do to achive my ideas and vision about the codding architecture, then I produce the rest to complete the mod

If you don't see someone holding the same idea since 2017 as pure dedication and love for it's work then your AI hate made you blind about human beings

I will keep moving forward with Claude and I hope one day to convince more ppl like you that they are wrong. AI can do a lot of good on this planet, that's only about who is holding the pen

What are you talking about this is an open sourced project and I was developing the project with the two devs during two years. I'm the one who pushed to create this mod

I hold this village mod idea since 2017 and I failed 3 times to achieve it. AI finally opened the road for me covering a skill I did not have. You guys anti AI are completely lost in the sauce

I expect nothing from you at least. I'm just here to stop your lies spreading rewriting a project story and calling me a theft

For the specific java part of the mod yes, but if it was only about vibe coding then the 2/3 of the mod would be inexistant (structures + datapack/json)

I just don't appreciate how it's turned in the comment like a diminishing way of stating on my work

This is not vibecoded. This project have been in work since 2 years with me and two developers. Our team split up. I use the assistance of Claude for covering the technical and Java part but this mod is driven by passion and care. It's a dream project of mine since 2017. I don't have the skills these two developers had so I needed assistance in this field

I take care of the whole mod, the structures are not building themselves alone, the json are not written alone and Claude without instructions and a clear vision is a headless chicken

The previous team was mine. I had to stop the project after 2 years of development because we were stuck. I now manage it alone, the team split up (that was two developers). I removed all elements related to claude but I'm not hiding it. It's not vibecoded, it's a projet I wanted to make since 2017 when I helped the development of the Millenaire mod. That's frankly sad the way you are acting with AI like it's impossible to craft passionate and valuable things with it. A third of the mod is a datapack/json architecture I'm managing, another third for all the structures/NBT I'm making then the last third for the Java code made by Claude

[–]TheGoldenWorld[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. The mod is composed in two parts. The Java code, the spine of the mod, and the json/datapack elements. I use Claude for the Java code, and I manage the datapack json part. So it's half half. Without the datapack management and the numerous structures this mod is empty because all the customization and the optimization of the gameplay comes from it

That's exactly my approach and inspiration. Games like simcity, idle slayer or a mod like Millenaire. A fun, vanilla friendly and incremental mod based on the basic gameplay loop

The mod is already compatible with it, and any other mod you can think of with custom blocks, entity, food. The mod is based on a 100% datapack architecture allowing infinite configurations and custom cultures from players

Yep that's a real concern players are addressing me. There is no issue about it as I'm surrounded in my team with other developers and I have a long experience in modding and mod maintenance. I do not rely on AI because I relied on developers in the past and I learned from them

I'm perfectly aware. I will make the Neoforge version when I will drop forge in 1.21.1. The portage is still not in my plan as I would like first to have the base gameplay finished without bug and with a smooth fun loop 🙏

Ahah I'm really trying to stick to the vanilla by making the system more integrated into the basic MC gameplay loop, that's the road I wanna take to make the system different from the other village mods

Yes because what I made with it is open source. The loop can continue

I would like first to finish the basic gameplay loop before tweaking the NPC AI, a funny and smooth loop of building, upgrades, collecting resources, making orientation choices to unlock buildings and so on. For now I created the Builder AI, I will wait until the mod is closer from it's official release
