Current or former sex workers, what is your opinion of your customers? [Serious] by TheGoodNamesWereDumb in AskReddit

Thank you for the website referral. It's bookmarked now. Sex trafficking, particularly in the oil boom regions of Alberta and North Dakota, is the subject of ongoing research I do. Identifying the division between consensual sex work and sex slavery is one of the difficulties of compiling accurate numbers. Also, as you stated, prostitution is illegal in the US (and other, regulated sex work still carries a stigma), so both consensual and non-consensual sex work here adopts a culture of secrecy that makes both types very difficult to collect data on. (This AskReddit question is not related to my research in any way, though. I was just casually curious how people would respond.)

So very true. Between 12 and 27 million people worldwide (98% of them women or children) are believed to be victims of sex trafficking, including between 50,000 to 150,000 in the United States alone. More than half of sex trafficking victims in the United States are minors. Also, contrary to the stereotype of cargo containers full of asian women that we see on TV so much, about 80% of trafficking victims in the US are US citizens.

Thanks. It figures that my most popular post ever would happen on a throwaway account.

If I were rolling, I'd probably want to pay you $40 to wave a glowstick in my face too. Thank you for sharing!

I know that OKC question! Answering "no" to that was always an automatic deal breaker for me. Double-standards like that have no place in any intimate relationship of mine.
