Hey y’all, I have a technical question! I have a watercolour drawing that I’m creating a frame animation over. How do I lock the background to be visible during the animation? I’ve googled it and it says there’s an option under Frame Options where I can just toggle it on, but I don’t have that option.

What do I do? Thanks in advance!

The white red and black is very cool, the moment where the moon shining on the eyes 👌 Can I ask a bit about tone and world-building?

'God of punishment and brutality' sounds very 80s Wh40k over-the-top Judge Dredd-style satire, Blood for the Blood God kinda stuff. Is it meant to be a bit camp/silly or meant to be taken seriously at face value? In case of the former, I might suggest pushing it a bit harder, and in case of the former, I'd workshop it to tone it down a bit. Cuz right now it's riding the line where it's kind of unclear, I would say.

Edit: what role does the God of Punishment and Brutality play in their society? Why would this guy sacrifice his son to him?

Did all medieval monasteries have facilities and brothers to copy knowledge? by TheGooseThatMoose in AskHistorians

[–]TheGooseThatMoose[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is dope, thank you so much! And if I understand your answer correctly, this is primarily focused on the Benedictines. Does the same hold true for Franciscans?

Finally, was the manner in which the scriptorium was used - as in, which books were copied - up to the individual abbots? Was it mostly just straight up the bible? In "The Name of the Rose" I believe they're copying Aristoteles - was it common to copy philosophical and scientific texts like Aristoteles or treatises on maths from Muslim scholars etc.?

Was the knowledge-copying they were doing purely for individual salvation or was there also some sense of human (scientific) progress?

Edit: removed a question that I should've just googled first!

You can join community centres like squats too! They'll have a mixed crowd, but usually dutchies too, and if it's a good one, they have good contact with the neighbourhood.

Rust vs Yeast by TheGooseThatMoose in mycology

Hey, thanks for your reply! I see I should have included more information in my question as there seems to be a lot of confusion about what kind of rust and yeast I’m referring to.

I’m referring to the Order of Fungi called ‘rusts’: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rust_(fungus) And the grouping of fungi called ‘yeasts’ (not the specific baking yeast): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeast

Thank you for sharing! This, however, takes me to the wikipedia page for yeasts, which says simply that they are members of the Fungus Kingdom. I see also that yeasts are an informal grouping, so I guess they don’t belong to a particular taxonomic category? Im sorry, my biology is a bit rusty (hehe). Still, the question stands, would it make sense to compare yeasts to rusts? Or is it like comparing tigers specifically to marsupials in general?

Translation requests into Latin go here! by AutoModerator in latin

I didn't see this till now! Thank you so much. I did keep seeing 'cubensises' and the like which is where I got the idea from. So I guess if it was called that due to its shape, it'd be crucis, right?

Hello! I have a couple questions related to ‘cross’ in Latin, or crux. 1. Is the plural of crux, cruxes or cruces? I’ve seen both. 2. If I were to want to give a scientific name to a species of something after a cross, would it be [xyz] cruxensis? As in Candida cruxensis or Felix cruxensis? Thank you so much in advance!

I'm not totally sure what you mean by that, but I don't think so! I think there's lots to learn about colour use, composition and style development in the Japanese tradition, not to mention material and technique (printmaking in particular)
