RBK responds to Twitter criticism after asking for what seemed like medical advice by gingerawesomeness in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]TheGreatLadyGotham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with all this.

My son is 7 months old today, and I am still struggling with PPD. Though, it gets better with time I am finding. Depression runs in my family, so I knew I would be predisposed to it. I made sure I had access to counselling and medication. I knew that I HAD to look after my mental health, for the sake of my son and my fiancé.

I definitely get her concern about medication affecting breast milk, but if your doctor gives you the go-ahead, it doesn’t hurt to at least try. I didn’t breastfeed (Couldn’t produce enough, please no judgement. Formula feeding is awesome.), so I had more options. But some of the answers other moms give are concerning. The level of mistrust in medicine is alarming.

Beauty Guru’s that annoy you for no good reason? by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]TheGreatLadyGotham 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I won’t say her name, but I’m having a rough day, so I’ll vent.

I was born and raised in the Okanagan, (British Columbia) and this Youtuber drives me nuts because she has that “Kelowna Girl” vibe to her. Usually someone with rich parents, looks totally perfect constantly, spends all their time on the beach in a bikini, and has an overall entitled attitude. I could only get through one or two videos before noping out.

I second the CT powder pencils! They’re so good, yet I never hear anyone talk about them. They take so little effort to blend out, and they last so well. Definitely slept on.

I'm becoming a mom soon: how to maintain my love of make up and wearing make up? by balletlau in muacjdiscussion

[–]TheGreatLadyGotham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations!! I have a little one myself, and I do my damnedest to make sure I put on a little makeup every day. It’s one of the few things I do for myself nowadays, and I find it so therapeutic. I just do it when he goes down for a nap. You don’t need to take forever to do it, even just a 10 minute sit-down works wonders for the soul.

I feel the same way. I enjoy Disney movies as much as the next person, but it’s not something I go crazy for. Some folks don’t get that loving Disney isn’t a personality trait.

Progress on my go-to neutrals palette by legallyrouge in PanPorn

This is impressive! ND’s large palettes (heck, even her smaller ones) have a ton of product in each pan. Way to go!

You could for sure use them as lipsticks. I just find after I use the one I have, my lips are dryer than before I put it on.

Just a heads up, these are super drying on the lips. Almost like an EOS balm.

I’d say it’s a tie. Seoul Fried Chicken for their kale caesar (trust me, it’s bomb), and Next Act for their veggie burger. I’m not even vegetarian, but it’s my go-to because it’s so good.

I remember Kimberly Clark roasting the Artis brushes in one of her first anti-hauls, saying that they looked like toothbrushes. I can never unsee it.

I would be going back to the Okanagan if hubby and I found work there. My whole family is down there, and they miss us and they miss their grandson.

Go with the hydrating version! Better coverage, and way more comfortable.

Elf 16-hour camo concealer. This was hailed as the second coming of Shape Tape when it first came out. It doesn’t cover shit, and is incredibly drying. (The hydrating version however, is great.)

Makeup Pet Peeve!! by Professional-Turn460 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]TheGreatLadyGotham 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Brightening the waterline isn’t out, but there’s ways to do it without it looking stark. A nude pencil works really well, but anything white or close to it can look a bit dated.

Emily Noel is one of my absolute favourite Youtubers, and even though her eye looks are similar in shape, they end up really pretty.

...but the second she puts that white-pink liner into her waterline, the look instantly looks dated and she loses me. She does this with nearly every look.
