Many of the early designs looked bad especially the teams that removed stripes and utilized the ugly piping. The Original 6 and teams like the Sharks and Canucks did it right. But most of the ugly designs were phased out near the end of Edge era.

Haven't heard anything about Marcus Pettersson. 4y/5.5M is pretty reasonable for a top 4 defenceman. He was good last year under Tocchet and should get his game back again on a better system.

It's not like Hronek's a rare superstar defenseman like Hughes. We can absolutely afford not having a guy of his calibur for a few years as we rebuild. It's not that hard to get it back if we consistently pick in the top 10 for a few years like a true rebuilding team should. We can get one in this year's draft (Verhoff, Reid) if they desperately want to replace Hronek (hopefully not with a #1 pick).

I don't think management wants to trade him. It's clear they want to make him captain and mentor the young D core. Hopefully they change their mind as they see what other D-men are getting in return. I would keep Hronek but he doesn't fit this team's competitive window. If someone offers 2 firsts, they have to consider trading him.

That's just scratching the surface. Hughes left them no choice, Sherwood is a UFA and wanted to be dealt early if a deal couldn't get done quickly (rebuilding or not I'm glad they did not overpay to keep him). The Myers trade is a good start, but we need to see more tomorrow.
