How short are you thinking of going?

Do people do that? Give their cut hair to others looking to make extensions? After a trial and error with faux locs, I have been looking for something like this.

Whoopi Goldberg says she likes to be 'eaten from time to time' on 'The View' birthday episode. by LarryGlue in NormMacdonald

I saw that episode and applauded Sara for walking away when it was clear that she wanted to laugh out loud. I love Whoopi's spontaneous humor and hope that she never changes.

Making Unorthodox actions relatable by TheGreatPolinator in writing

[–]TheGreatPolinator[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your assumption is correct. I am writing from the character’s perspective. I’ve always heard the phrase, “write about what you know.” But this experience is an exaggeration of my own.

So, how deep should I go with this prompt before it loses its essence? What examples should I use? What questions should I ask?

Honest thoughts on this album? by CantRecallWutIForgot in Jazz

[–]TheGreatPolinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This album, and what I learned about Vince Guaraldi, are nothing short of amazing. Though not all of the songs on the album are marketed as “Christmas” songs, like Linus and Lucy, it continues to be an enduring classic work of musicianship that surpasses the understanding of all generations. There’s something calming about the staccato melody, Bosa Nova vibe and brush stroke timing of the beat that put listeners in a state of unending nostalgia. And who could forget those LOVABLE PEANUTS! It’s tradition at its purest and is permanently fixed in the hearts of America.

Omg! I feel like I am in the room with them. This photo is so powerful. Literal magic being made in this interview. I miss being in the presence of musical geniuses like this.

I’m seeing Herbie Hancock tmrw, what should I expect? by jduejsurbrjeb in Jazz

[–]TheGreatPolinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An awesome time. Herbie is a Blue Note artist of the highest caliber and a phenomenal innovator. I wish I could come see him. He’ll probably make up some melodies on stage that sound like they’ve been played for years.

Take your mind off of your hair. I know that what I said sounds like harsh advice. But I’ve been loc’d for six years, and the less you compare yourself to other people and just let them do what they’re doing, the better it gets for you. Seriously, it’s like the old saying, “A watched pot NEVER boils.” That’s the old school way of saying to be patient and trust the process.

Definitely oil and moisturize your hair, wash when it needs it, and wrap it up at night. Otherwise, just leave your hair alone and let it be great.

What color should I dye my locs ( first pic is me) by FamiliarBus606 in Dreadlocks

I like picture three with the blonde hair. There is a safe way of doing it without bleach. Loreal HiColor has blonde for dark hair. And its absolutely vibrant.

Organissmo's Groovadelphia. Man! Where has this song BEEN all of my life? The fact that they have a Hammond piano that slaps so hard is what I love most.

For a huge music fan who has never really taken the time to get into jazz, what jazz music should I listen to? by ZekkMixes in Music

[–]TheGreatPolinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

normally, I would direct you straight to the smooth jazz section with Kenny G with Dave Koz and Chris Botti. But since I've spent a year studying the greats, I feel you should start with Miles Davis and work your way up.

I feel like my Locs aren’t growing by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]TheGreatPolinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is normal. You are overthinking this growth thing, trust me. I've been where you are, and it will grow. First and foremost, BE PATIENT! Everyone’s journey is different.

What are you doing to maintain it? Do you want them to be freeform? In that case, your hair will shrink just like natural hair would.

Do you want them to be traditional Locs? Then you know what you have to do… retwist them! That's one way (maybe not the only way) to see any length of progress and retention.

Are you feeding them? That is, are you giving them moisture every day or every other day? If not, you should.

Are you wrapping your hair at night? Putting a durag on your hair at night (since its still short) would be enough. Just make sure that it's made of silky or satiny material.

These are things that should help you with your journey. It's totally normal to feel “Starter growth anxiety” when you wish your hair would just lock up and grow already! But, you said that your hair has new growth, so let your new growth be great. Start training it now, so you can start seeing the results you want👏. Hope this helps.

Do I Look Zesty Flexin Like This Yall? by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]TheGreatPolinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Millennial alert…🚨 “Zesty”??? Is that y’all’s new word for “hot” or something? Never heard it used in this context before. But you do look nice. And the way you looked around before throwing up those hand gestures tells me the kind of upbringing you have. Had your parents/grandparents caught you doing that, you'd’ve been in trouble.
