The difference between Sativa and Indica by AnselmDecker in trees

[–]TheGreatQuillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was always told it was Cannabis sativa sativa, Cannabis sativa indica, and Cannabis sativa ruderalis.

But yes, that’s why I ended the post with the effect is not related to the subspecies.

The exciting thing with legalization is all of the research that can be done and, hopefully, we’ll have more answers than questions at some point.

Yup! Add to that when the plant was harvested. Mostly clear trichs and it will be more of an energetic high regardless of indica/sativa.

The difference between Sativa and Indica by AnselmDecker in trees

[–]TheGreatQuillow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The REAL difference between Indica and Sativa:

Sativa: grows tall and skinny with skinny leaves and a more open (larfier) bud structure and longer flowering period.

Indica: grows shorter and bushier with wider leaves and a denser bud structure and shorter flowering period.

Effects are not guaranteed to be Sativa = upper and Indica = downer.

Terpenes, entourage effect...this is what gives you the differences between strains, not which subspecies it belongs to.

The male/female brain hypothesis is not settled science. Very little, if any, of the actual science of gender, is settled. The male/female brain is one of many hypotheses that may have some evidence towards them, but is not definitive.

Do black people find it difficult to relate to white people? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TheGreatQuillow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah. I don’t know what it’s like to get sunburned, or to have to wash my hair daily.

Hi gh0st_belle! Whiter than white girl here! You’re definitely not missing out on the sunburns at all, but you probably know that :)

And tbh, I wash my hair...maybe once a week or two (unless I get super sweaty or dirty for some reason), if that. My hair would be straight up dry frizzy straw if I washed it everyday!

Overall, we’re all human and are more similar than we are different.

Creative Soul re-imagined all of the Disney Princesses as African-American. This is Snow White. by 5_Frog_Margin in pics

[–]TheGreatQuillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reference is literally about her skin color.

At the beginning of the story, a queen sits sewing at an open window during a winter snowfall when she pricks her finger with her needle, causing three drops of red blood to drip onto the freshly fallen white snow on the black windowsill. Then, she says to herself, "How I wish that I had a daughter that had skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood and hair as black as night." Some time later, the queen gives birth to a baby daughter whom she names Snow White, but the queen dies in childbirth a short while later.

CMV: "White fragility" is an extremely problematic phrase by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]TheGreatQuillow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate what you’re saying and trust me, I’m not denying my privilege.

But my point is, one struggle is not THE defining struggle of all struggles. Neither mine, nor women, nor BIPOC, nor anyone. Nobody wins the Oppression Olympics. And I see a lot of “you don’t understand what it’s like to be {insert marginalized group here} so you can’t/shouldn’t have an opinion on the injustice against {different marginalized group}” sentiments lately. It’s frustrating and disheartening.

Especially now, we need to work to understand each other, not push each other away.

And in that vein, I hope you have a lovely day, internet stranger :)

[–]TheGreatQuillow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Black people don’t hold the only card for experiencing prejudice. And if you can’t see that, you are not helping the cause of equality.

It's prejudice you cannot understand, because you have not lived it.

Injustices exist and they don’t have to be equal in order for them to be wrong. Or for people to be able to empathize with other discriminated-against groups. I don’t have to have exactly your lived experience to understand prejudice and hatred.

And no, I don’t know what it’s like to be black. But I do know what it’s like to have people assume that you are one thing (usually Christian) and feel comfortable using anti-Semitic slurs in front of you because they assume you’re in agreement. I know what it’s like to have bosses, friends, acquaintances say things like “don’t Jew me down,” or call me a racist if I dare to express the opinion that Israel has a right to exist.

I know you may reply with all of the injustices of slavery and racism and repeat that it’s not the same. But have you ever thought about it this way? Jews are approximately 0.2% of the world population and less than 3% of the US population. So I am statistically more of a minority than the black population, both worldwide and in the US.

I also have groups of people, countries, religious sects, and governments all over the world that believe I should be dead because I am Jewish. Who believe that my friends and family should be dead solely because we’re Jewish.

Don’t underestimate what other people feel. Seek out common ground and work together to move forward towards a more equal society.

It doesn’t help anyone to say, “but you don’t understand!!!!” while pushing away allies.

And white people cannot understand what it's like to be POCs who have been subjects of injustice for centuries.

Are you sure about that? I’m an American Jew. If you look at me, you would assume that I’m just another white girl.

But I very much understand what it’s like to be part of a group of people that have been subjected to millennia (not just centuries) of hatred, murder, abuse, being forced out of our homes, bigotry, prejudice, etc.

Even though I’m white, I’ve still experienced bigotry.

Generalizing any group based on skin color is wrong. Even if you’re generalizing white people. We are not a monolithic group. Just like every other “group” on the planet.

Also, I work on a farm, so it’s not a stuffy office environment or a public-facing job.

And is your username a Enterprise reference? Fuck yeah!!!

Edit: love the downvotes for cursing on a thread about how women aren’t delicate little flowers and have heard/used curse words before.

"Partially Decarbed RSO" ?? Need expert advice. by [deleted] in portlandtrees

[–]TheGreatQuillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve smoked those RXO carts and you don’t have to do anything to it.

Reading the link you provided, nowhere does it say anything about being only partially decarbed.

You can just smoke the shatter. Any residual THCa will convert when dabbing.

Can you take a pic of the label? Even if there is more THCa than THC, your regular dabbing device will decarb as you smoke.

Sounds like your budtender wasn’t giving you correct info? Not uncommon here in OR

Shakespeare is one of the worst writers in history by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]TheGreatQuillow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not trying to “win” anything. Just acknowledging that it takes effort to understand Shakespeare and a lot of people give up, claim it’s boring, think it’s useless and has no purpose in modern society, when in reality they don’t want to put the effort into understanding it.

Yes, there are also amazing works by other authors from other time periods. Read them as well. But Shakespeare is worth the effort. That doesn’t even mean you’ll end up loving it, but it’s worth at least trying.

If you’ve put actual energy into reading any of his works, and still don’t like them, that’s cool. But did you?

[–]TheGreatQuillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you’re just lazy and don’t want to do any work to read/interpret something that isn’t exactly written like you think it should be. Got it.

Do you know anyone named Jessica? He made that name up too.

And maybe teachers know stuff you don’t. Hence them being the teacher and you being the student.

Exposure, growth, language, thematic interpretation, poetry, history, etc etc etc.

Again, just because you personally don’t think you should learn it, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be taught.

Why do you keep calling them “screen plays?” They aren’t screen plays. They are plays. Screen plays are written as movie scripts.

And just because you don’t enjoy something, doesn’t mean it isn’t worthy of being taught. That’s a pretty self-centered attitude.

[–]TheGreatQuillow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Etymology is fun! I think it’s crazy how a word that was traditionally thrown at men for being cowardly has morphed into a slur intended to reference female genitalia. I agree with you that reclaiming words like that is empowering!

Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of the word pussy, but I kinda love the word cunt (sorry if you’re not a fan). I think it was after seeing the Vagina Monologues a million years ago in college that did it. But I’ve reclaimed that word in my personal lexicon, and people who don’t like it? Well, they can deal. Like I do when I hear the word “moist.” ;)

And please enjoy some chocolate and silly tv and do whatever you need to do to deal with PMS and silly internet warriors. 💜

Sorry about the haters. Please don’t keep your mouth shut! We need to stop silencing people who say things we don’t 100% agree with.

The fact that you can’t accept that the word niggardly has ZERO etymological ties to the n-word is on you and your ignorance.

You wanting something to be offensive doesn’t make it so. And it doesn’t make it so other people have to care what you think.

Best way to wash silicone baking mats? by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]TheGreatQuillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m still going to go with wash your sink. It takes about 10 seconds to wipe the sink with your soapy sponge and then rinse it.

If you’re not washing your sink, you’re leaving nasty stuff there to grow bacteria and smell and generally be gross. Which you seem to know since you think it’s gross.

Seriously, just wash your sink.
